How long do we give Ramos?

No, not getting on the man's back already. More how long should it take him to turn us around and getting us back towards the top?

Juande has been in charge for a week, and all that he can probably gauge at the moment is fitness, and perhaps a little about the player's mental attitude/style.

I imagine it will take him another month (as we have an international break coming up) to have a general understanding about each player - positions they can play, his strengths and weaknesses, more about their mental sides and where they can fit into his system.

Then around mid december I think Ramos will known which players simply will not make it under him, and these will be prepared to be shipped out in January.

With the rush of games over christmas and the new year a lot of the players will get game time, a couple might be let go at the end of january if bids come in, and one or two choice purchases might be made (right player at the right price)

So three months down the line, Ramos has been able to impress his style onto the players, players know their roles, and hopefully Ramos has the coaching staff he wants and is starting to work our scouting department with specific requirements.

That leaves about 4/5 months to try to get the best out of the players, make his mind up about some and see if others prove themselves. Then next summer he has a chance to really develop his own squad.

That seems like the best part of a season before I think we will really see Ramos' true effect on the team, but I would expect results to be at a top 6/7 level in the latter half of the season, as the current players are good enough as they have proved. In the immediate short term I would like to see the players get some form back, and beat Wigan

Serious answer eh?

Well I think the board will give him at least the remainder of this season and next (if we don't go down). Then make a decision depending on the football we're playing next year, how we're progressing, results etc. I'd be surprised if he got less time than that unless he fell out with someone or chose to leave.

By that point I'd be hoping we had concrete plans for a new ground and that I was filled with more optimism than I currently am.

Based on the board's current way of operating, he'd better be sniffing the armpits of the top four by the end of 2008-09 or he's on his way out.

I personally think he's had more than enough time already.

I think if he doesn't get CL football by end of next season, the pressure will , and should be on.

They made clear that CL football is a minimum requirement for Jol, it should be no different under the new man.

given that we are paying him £4 million a year and he has a 4 1/2 year deal there is no way we could afford to sack him after next season unless things are going drastically wrong

How long do we give Ramos?

I think the previous few posters have answered that little question. Normally SC members 'give' someone about 3 months before the knives come out.

So to join in the fun, I reckon 'we' will give him to New Year before the first

picture is posted. Oh dear, just done that.

i refuse to discuss this right now but lets sack him anyway. I love the press conferences where new foreign managers are unveiled.

he will quit before being sacked...comolli as his boss!?!? FFS - even the money wont keep him here much past january when he realises exactly what it means to have Commolli as the DOF....

But i could be wrong because (please see signature)

Personally I don't think we should be expecting returns (in terms of top 4, challenging for trophies etc) until 2009/10 season. if you think that he probably won't be bale to fully assess the squad for a few months and then he won't be able to bring in many players in January, so he will have to get some players next summer.

That means that we should expect a transition season 2008/09, but with positive signs of Ramos' philosophy being implemented. Then 2009/10 would be the crunch season where the board will get on his back if things don't go according to plan. However personally I would like to see him in place for at least 5 years before they start throwing around ideas of sacking the manager.

As long as he keeps us in the premiership this season, I am willing to give him 2 years.

It's definitely too early to start threads like this kind of threads, but I think he'll be with us until his contract runs to end as he's definitely little too expensive be fired.
