The EPL will never allow for that as it would threaten their television contract by talent attrition and also the 4 spots in the UCL. And the EPL vs the FA.....well we all know who plays the submissive role in that relationship.

And there is the money - those other European countries would love to limit the number of exports to the EPL, and drive up their own TV revenue.

I think the article does a good job of pointing out that the FA generally has a poor set-up for the national team, trying to pick from a few key clubs, rather than building a squad around players who can play in a particular system, even if that is lower level PL clubs, or even Championship level clubs.

The FA puts "stars" above the concept of building a better team. Somehow they need to blend stars within a team framework to get the best results.

It's not really the fa it's the media that put pressure on the manager. If we lose and a star was omitted then he will be crucified.

This would just lead to Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool trying to hoover up the best players from other teams' academies even more than they do already.

That is why dyke is changing the rules so that agents no longer get a fee for players under 18.
It's will be in the agents best interest for the player to stay at a club where he gets regular starts.

I worry that they might have a choice. And it would lead to one of those awkward years which we have been free of for a bit where we end up talking about a Breakaway League more than the games from week to week. And that always sucks and leads to changes like the Europa League that suck more.

The other teams in europe would want this though. Also the pl makes too much money for the top teams to want a breakaway league.

And if that happens... the price of english players are gonna increase.... as if it isn't inflated enough as it is.

And ban loans for over 21's. Teams will have to decide whether they are good enough to keep or sell them. They would be more likely to have a settled career and play more games.

Something definitely has to be done regarding the loan system. No loans for over 21's sounds good, but I think there's scope for a bit more. I think in today's game, given how much money there is in the premier league, I'm not sure prem clubs should be allowed to loan players in. Perhaps restrict loaning players who are not homegrown too.

I know they aren't breaking any rules but what Chelsea do with the loan system is pretty slippery. Then you have clubs who benefit from players who they don't own and merely rent for a while to get them in a position they wouldn't be in usually. The premier league tv deal means no prem club needs to rent players surely? Prem clubs limited to one loan in, all loans to be under 21, non-homegrown players can't be loaned out at all.

Agree don't allow loans in the same division. Also homegrown only (although the new work permit rules will probably take care of that).

Get on the blower to Dyke.

Agree that PL teams shouldn't be allowed to loan players in and that loans should be limited to under 21s only.

I'm not sure why the FA don't do something about it.

Or Uefa after they persued banning third party ownership for so long.

The problem will be restricting "right to play" or words to that effect - ie player A 28 years old and out of favour with the Coach, can't get a game for love nor money and is left rotting as no solution.

They would be left rotting till the next transfer window anyway. Loans can only be made in the window now.

They already do Liverpool are shit at talent spotting till they have have stared for another club. Least we seem to pick them at 8-10 a lot of the time.

The problem is with the rules will it kill players careers like Dier not home grown but played for England at under 21s and below. Will Nathan Oduwa count as he moved clubs for a short periode will it mean kids are stuck at one club till they have made the 3-5 year quota?

Which, in turn, means that clubs will be more inclined towards producing their own, both to reduce the cost of buying, but also to produce saleable assets for those who can't produce enough.

What I think it will do is reduce the television stranglehold that the BPL has. We might not have the very best in the World (Messi, Ronaldo, Bale etc, but we do have greater numbers due to the money. Less international stars could lead to a waning interest in the BPL abroad.
