Welcome to the Hoffenheim vs Spurs Match Thread! COYS!
EDIT: As worcestersauce points out below, these are wrong - we need 2 wins to guarantee qualification without a playoff.Fun statistics about tomorrow's match
If we win: 1- We secure 8th if everyone above us won, and united wins against Rangers (or rangers wins and keeps the GD above us), and we get 3rd if everyone above us won.
2- We secure the playoffs no matter the Brodo game.
If we draw:
1- Worst case scenario we drop to 17th (Yes i calculated it)
2-Best case scenario everyone below us loses, rangers lose, we get 8th
If we lose:
1- Worst case we drop to 22nd!!!!
2- Best case we drop to 11th, with a small chance to go straight into RO16 instead of playoffs
Nah pretty sure that's not correct.Credit to the u/Lopsided-Mix4613 on Reddit - I haven't checked the maths but I'll assume it's right:
Looking at it in more detail, I think you're right - we can't qualify tomorrow, but a win does guarantee us a playoff place. It does need to be 2 wins to guarantee it (because one of Rangers and United will drop points, as they say).Nah pretty sure that's not correct.
If win we will go 8th but it ain't secured as there's half a dozen teams who can overtake our 14 points if we don't get anything in the last game.
I reckon they're working on the basis this is the last game.
Dangerous to claim good news before the game anyway!!Looking at it in more detail, I think you're right - we can't qualify tomorrow, but a win does guarantee us a playoff place. It does need to be 2 wins to guarantee it (because one of Rangers and United will drop points, as they say).
Bummer, I was thinking we had some actual good news and might be able to get away with resting players next week with a result tomorrow.
I said the same earlier but he's cup tied thank feck.I'm fully prepared for a Gift Orban goal (which would be his first for Hoffenheim) tomorrow.
