I don't necessarily think the window not being open yet matters too much, sure not a lot of clubs, if any, have made signings yet, but its about intention.

If our goal for next year is to genuinely bridge the gap to the top 3, then we need to look at being somewhat decisive relatively early, there were plenty of reports stating we wanted early business done and some before the Euros.

We also need to recognise that the loan signing you reference, while I actually don't mind Timo Werner at all, was not someone the fanbase would all have been looking at to bring back again when the plan has been to upgrade the attack - as well as the fact his signing brings about other issues from a squad building perspective.

Whether these clubs have signed these players or not, Arsenal were heavily going for Sesko, Chelsea and United are trying for Olise and Liverpool are trying for Ederson - the fact we don't really have any really strong rumours that collectively we feel will upgrade the squad, I feel is cause for concern, whether the window is open yet or not.

I'll always properly judge at the end of the window but I just feel Ito is a missed opportunity to have strongly gone for to have essentially 2 positions sorted for the start of pre season, for a good fee.

If he's chosen Bayern how is it a missed opportunity for us?

I wouldn’t be too surprised to see us turn our attentions to Ko Itakura instead. He has a release clause rumoured to be in the region of €10-15m. He’s been linked previously, Ange tried to sign him at Celtic and he is a CAA Base client. Seems like an obvious and easy deal to do.

Would be happy with either tbh. Perfect for filling out the squad with capable and productive players.

but its about intention.
How do you know what the clubs intentions are for this window?
Or should we just be moaning whenever another club looks to be signing someone because "we should have signed them"?

The euros are soon, which will slow down a fair bit of market movement and as has been said, the window hasn't even opened yet but we've already made a loan signing and have cleared a fair bit of "deadwood".

It really does feel like pre-emptive moaning for the sake of moaning tbh.

And you're concerned about rumours and media links?
Are you new to transfer windows or something? Because you're in for a bumpy fucking ride if you're going to be reacting to every bloody link to any club.

If we can only sign about three foreign players this window due to homegrown rules, I’m not sure I’d have wanted us to blow one of those spots on a Ben Davies replacement this early in the window, despite being a good player.

I'm not new at all haha and yeah links are one thing and signing the player is another, Bayern have signed Ito and to me if we were really keen on him, it doesn't look like we've tried.

It doesnt necessarily strike me as a Dragusin situation where there were two very clear offers on the table and hes opted to join the other club.

Idk I'm just thinking from a squad building perspective in that Spurs are going to have to make sacrifices in certain areas this summer to prioritise positions of need as well as balancing the homegrown numbers and there arent a whole lot of left footed centre backs for the level we want to be at, let alone ones who can also cover left back, what we do to sort those positions is mostly what is concerning me when a good option comes off the market.

I'm not up in arms about it or something, don't get me wrong, just concerned theres a lot of holes to fill.
