Big fan of this target. The news reports say we are waiting to get other priority positions in first. We've also had reports that we don't have a budget and will do deals that make sense. He's got a release clause which sounds like it's very reasonable - why not just do it before someone else comes along?

Likely because we can only fit about three non-hg players in with our expected outs, so we want to make sure the rest of our business fits before we commit to losing one of these slots.

I wonder if some German agents are using our name to get deals done for their players here.

Good move for him, I notice Bayern are doing their usual thing of picking off the best players from those who dare challenge them.

Bayern close to signing Ito

FC Bayern is fine-tuning its squad for the coming season and also wants to strengthen its defense - and is about to sign Stuttgart's Hiroki Ito.

Hiroki Ito has been playing at VfB Stuttgart since summer 2021 and has developed into a permanent fixture for the Swabians. His performances last season were extremely strong: in 26 Bundesliga games for VfB he achieved a strong kicker grade average of 2.94. The Japanese played a major role in Stuttgart qualifying for the Champions League.

Unsurprisingly, Ito has attracted interest from larger and better-funded clubs. In the winter, the left-back was a topic at the top Saudi club Al-Nassr around Cristiano Ronaldo and the ex-Munich player Sadio Mané. Later, Al-Ahli also looked at Ito, but he resisted the lucrative offers. Tottenham Hotspur recently had their eye on the Japanese - but he apparently has no plans to go to England.

Right now it kinda feels like we are one of the few clubs who are standing still when it comes to making moves in the market.

Ito wouldve been a perfect addition to the squad to add depth to two positions and for an extremely reasonable price.

He wouldn't necessarily have chosen us. He has a choice between an almost guaranteed league title and competing for champions league at Bayern or trying to sneak top 4 at spurs.

The transfer window isn't open yet... we have made a loan signing already... and you feel we are one of the few clubs standing still?

I may not be a disciple of Fabrizio Romano as some people are, but I doubt that the majority of other clubs have made loads of deals already.

Not fussed about this one, we have bigger priorities in order:
1. CF
2. DM
3. AM/W
4. RB replacement if Royal goes.

If we have the funds and a deal can be done i think Murillo would be a good signing at LCB. He also looks like he has the skill set to cover for Udogie.

I don't necessarily think the window not being open yet matters too much, sure not a lot of clubs, if any, have made signings yet, but its about intention.

If our goal for next year is to genuinely bridge the gap to the top 3, then we need to look at being somewhat decisive relatively early, there were plenty of reports stating we wanted early business done and some before the Euros.

We also need to recognise that the loan signing you reference, while I actually don't mind Timo Werner at all, was not someone the fanbase would all have been looking at to bring back again when the plan has been to upgrade the attack - as well as the fact his signing brings about other issues from a squad building perspective.

Whether these clubs have signed these players or not, Arsenal were heavily going for Sesko, Chelsea and United are trying for Olise and Liverpool are trying for Ederson - the fact we don't really have any really strong rumours that collectively we feel will upgrade the squad, I feel is cause for concern, whether the window is open yet or not.

I'll always properly judge at the end of the window but I just feel Ito is a missed opportunity to have strongly gone for to have essentially 2 positions sorted for the start of pre season, for a good fee.
