I also think that you don't want to be that player who's coming in to directly replace a World Class, club and Premier League legend either as, rightly or wrongly, the weight of expectation from fans and media at large will be enormous.Yup. Given there's no obvious direct 'replacement', at the moment, if him leaving is inevitable (not saying it is, but...), I think there's a good case for:
- backing Richi as a 9, and recognising Son can play there too
- taking a bit of a bet on a young prospect as back up to Richi
- using the cash to get both VDV and Tapsoba
- maybe look at a fast, goal scoring AM/LWF/RWF as well to help make up for goals we'll lose
Nobody is effectively replacing Kane - be it goals, or influence - so you compensate by increasing your resources elsewhere (hopefully) making the team performances more cohesive with what Ange wants and by extension more effective in achieving our goals.
