Amazing how his stock has risen recently....it was only a month ago that he was being written off by all and sundry. fair play to him. Sheringham is not a bad player to aspire to either....

If Soldado improves and Ade continues to be committed to the cause, I can't see Kane getting a lot of chances next season, especially in the Prem. This is compounded by the fact that we'll probably only start with one striker in a lot of games too (451 formation etc). Shame, but any new manager is going to be under pressure to favour the guys the board have spent all the money on.

Kane's best chance is if Ade of Soldado leave and the club don't look to replace them. Otherwise he's always gonna play second fiddle, a bit like Defoe.

Yep. Also fair play to Pritchard. Sherwood too should be given some credit, for playing at least some part in their development.

2 absolutely giant "If's" there bigspurs.

The Defoe role the best he should be expecting IMO and it's a point of continuing to take your chances as and when he get's them. We are a big (ish) club and players with as little proven experience as Kane shouldn't be starting every game. There should be enough games next year for all three of them to get plenty of game-time.

I agree with the Kane-Sheringham comparison and it's one I've made before. Tall, technical, clever, not quick, late developer and constant improver. The Defoe stories above are moot. Loyal servant and all that, some great games, but JD didn't build on what he had, learning and improving. I think Kane will.

It's a further sign of Kane's canniness and footballing intelligence that he chooses Sheringham as a role model. I'm by no means the only person here who has already made the comparison, based on watching his performances and seeing how Kane, like Sheringham, compensates for lack of pace with vision and game-sense.

Kane is very hard to pick up in the box - he drifts off the defenders of lower-table teams like a much more experienced player. He can dribble and beat a man using ball-control, he can certainly head the ball and he has a firm shot. He's pretty big, even if at 21 he has some filling-out yet to do, and his hold-up play is already very competent.

We haven't seen him perform against really high-quality defences, but that's OK, he can try that next season. This season has been about establishing that he can play effectively in the Premiership and he's accomplished that.

His whole demeanour suggests self-improvement and the desire to progress. At 21, he's not going to be demanding to be first choice striker every week, so that also makes him a good understudy for Soldado or Adebayor or both.

I hear The Scorpions' Rock You Like a Hurricane. "Here I am, rock you like a Harry Kane!". You'd know it if you heard it.

Did I just hear that tonight.

Always remember Leeds used to sing the same about Harry Kewell.
