We are delighted to announce the appointment of Gus Poyet to our coaching staff.

The 39-year-old will join the Club as one of two first-team coaches alongside Marcos Alvarez, working under Head Coach Juande Ramos.

Poyet enjoyed three seasons as a player at White Hart Lane, after winning major honours with former clubs Chelsea and Real Zaragoza. Following the conclusion of his playing career the former Uruguay international became Assistant Manager at Swindon Town and, more recently, Leeds United.

Don’t really know about Poyet’s coaching skills but they seemed to love him at Leeds. Can anyone give me an insight as to why he’s liked so much by the Leeds fans?

There's no actual talk of a direct assistant coach at this stage is there, so thats a little puzzling. Alvarez is gonna be the fitness coach it seems and Gus is just an addition to the coaching staff so is someone else gonna be appointed as direct assistant to JR?
