Tbh I reckon he’d pushed straight into our squad. He has that sort of swagger/confidence that I don’t really see in many other youth players.

I agree I a huge believer in getting out of academy and in proper football and if you can go abroad and into big leagues like Germany then go ASAP.

Obviously I go MK a lot ( ex academy scout too ) and just being relegated I’d love them to pick up a few of our boys on loan.

Harrison, Bennetts, Amos etc

I admire your optimism, but we have our only extremely talented player with swagger and confidence that was never used. Though I concede that the fact we would have spent 8m on him would have given the manager a bit of a kick up the behind to play him.

Regardless I hope we do use the loan system more, and failing that I hope our players start getting the message and leave and start their careers abroad. Will only be beneficial to England

English boys still doing well.

Jadon Sancho has now provided 4 assists in the Bundesliga this season; Christian Pulisic (5) is the only Borussia Dortmund player with more.

18-year-old Sancho is starting just his sixth game.

Ademola Lookman has now scored more goals (4) for RB Leipzig in 10 Bundesliga games than in 24 appearances across all competitions for Everton (3).

Thriving abroad. ??

Also found this exchange on twitter funny.

It's the exact same one I've read on here. The 'Can only get in if they are better than what we have' as it means you are only filtering the best. People genuinely believe that it makes a difference how good the player is. The only thing that matters is how big the balls of the manager are, rather than constantly looking to the player as the problem. Sancho was basically the best player in the world in his age group and wasn't deemed good enough. So what do people really expect with that mentality. No one will ever come through, yet we use the exact same argument here, does no one realise it is ridiculous to justify not using our own. If Sancho was in our academy people would say the same thing, 'he's not better than what we have''he's only done it against kids' it's why I don't believe him coming here would have mattered. Maybe the fact we would have had to spend 8m would have provided extra pressure but who knows. As fans we have turned into Chelsea and City fans.

What is the point in an academy, even the best in the world, if you don't show around 5 games of patience to develop them. TAA has looked ropey in a couple of games this season but patience has been shown. The amount of games he's struggled in through developing is no more than the number of bad games an experienced player will have.

As I say the whole of PL have this problem but I find it even more criminal when the best academies are wasted.

Jay Da Silva was voted Charlton's supporters player of the season after his 2nd season. I work with a Charlton and he said he is absolutely quality. These 2 season loans seem to do well. He was one of the best 4 in Edwards age group, as usual unfortunate he is at Chelsea.

Also Juventus, Madrid and Barca are after Hudson-Odoi, don't see him leaving but hope he goes to Juve. Really think he would work there and stand a better chance of getting a chance there than the other 2 clubs. Wanted him here, ages ago, but for England's sake I really hope he leaves

English fans of Top 6 PL clubs

"Would be buzzing to get Kluivert, he looks like he'd be a star and will improve our squad"

Also Fans of Top 6 PL clubs

"The manager knows more about Mason Mount than you do. If he isn't playing there's a reason. Football isn't a charity, he needs to be better than what we currently have"

I'm sure these will be the comments made on forums and on social media over the next 6 months.

Mount - 27 games 1986mins, 8 goals, 8 assists 60 Key Passes
Kluivert - 28 games 2148 mins, 8 goals, 6 assists 39 Key Passes

Mount is having a great season, and is a very talented but we can all pretty much bet, which player will be signed and playing for a top club next season or have loads of suitors, while the other will be expecting a season in the Championship. One is also playing international football while the other is playing u19 football. Hard work being a young English player. regardless of talent.

And of course he is also outperforming Odegaard, who everyone raved about and wanted. I'm sure if anyone dared to suggest and English academy player was better than Odegaard at the time they'd have been laughed at. All 19 though.

Pathways are so much more difficult of the English boys.

I really hope Mount goes to the Bundesliga, it is sooo frustrating to know that he has a 4 year contract with them. Like Hudson-Odoi, and even some of our players.

Mount and Sancho after another good season in a top league will be in the England squad. I'm more confident in Sancho's future, but don't know what Mount's future holds

Lookman ended the season strongly with 4 goals 3 assist in his last 5 games. He actually average a goal/assist every 64minutes in the Bundesliga after not apparently being good enough for the PL. He was more productive any other Everton player smh

And here is Sancho. He only started really playing for them halfway through the season, due to various issues but he averaged a goal/assist every 135 minutes, here is a small highlights package

This is why I don't understand when people make statements like Sessegnon is the best winger his age group based off what he is doing in the Championship. He has played incredibly, but he has had the platform to perform due to the league/team he is in. Granted Sancho has had less time but he has still proved more productive per minutes despite having to adjust to a stronger league and a completely different culture. Yet if Sancho never forced himself out of City, fans would be none the wiser to his talents and be considered deluded for thinking he is better than Sessegnon. Look at Sancho's highlights and you honestly believes he isn't a better left winger. And he isn't the only one. It's why I think it is baffling people would consider paying 50m for Sessegnon, not because he isn't talented but because there are better more affordable players within our reach. People always go on about getting them before they blow up. Sancho was 8m. I know City stopped us getting him, but maybe trying to get Hudson-Odoi is worth doing. He is better than Sessegnon, just without the platform. Sessegnon, could deliver, but surely 50m is a lot more risky, than a player who has proved himself just as talented at youth level, without the platform to do it.

I always say people give the special tag too easily, to any academy player that has broke through and had an incredible season. I reckon RS will make a quality FB, especially with his clear knack for arriving on time and picking up goals, but right now, I do not think he is the best LW in his own age group in England let alone the world. If we do get Sessegnon, he could become a star, I've always said eh was talented but surely the safer and potentially more lucrative gamble is looking closer to home.

We're not particularly willing to give our own kids a chance at the moment it seems, I can't see us spending much to bring them in from other clubs!

He's name doesn't ring any bells with me, but I trust he is just a sturdy academy product from them.

Panzo from Chelsea youth has joined Monaco

Sounds like another great move, I heard Monaco are also after Hudson-Odoi but Chelsea are quoting over 20m

See he’s got 100 appearances already in lower league football and only 22. Hopefully he’ll be a solid shining for MK.

wonder if he will leave?

I'll be honest I was joking but I'm sure that's the normal logic that follows if they don't break in. He won't leave, if he does City might as well pack it all in. An incredibly talented player, from Stockport, who in most sane minds is more than good enough for PL football. That is what they reinvented their academy for, they've let some slip through but he is their jewel and the one they can say is born and bred with them. They'd rather Sancho went than him imo.

I would like him to leave though as where will he get a chance. And while you say it is a shame that they bought Mahrez.

What's more of a shame spending 60m on a former PL POTS winner, PL winner and former Balon D'Or nominee, to block the path of an 18 year old who has only won a u17 World Cup.

Or what we're likely to do, which is spend 40m on a player who has had one good season in Ligue 1 to his name to block the path of our our own academy player who has won an u17 Euros AND recently won the u20 World Cup and is the same age.

I'm not a fan of what City or most PL clubs do, but there is a lot more justification for what they do, than what we do. We are are lot more guilty and wasteful than they are,, despite having less resources. Chances are they are going to win the PL next year as well, so it will have been worthwhile we're struggling to win Cups. If you going to criticise them you have to seriously look at our own club.

He’s too good. If they don’t groom him to slot in after David Silva then they’ve fucked it all up.

Angus Gunn has gone from Man City to Southampton. The fee was £13.5 million which seems very high but what if this is the start of the English premier league clubs starting to take the players off of the top clubs who could go on to play for England.

If these kids really have the motivation to push on and play PL games then this is the kind of move they should go for, if they don’t want to move abroad (which I’m not against, I think it’s one reason for the failure of the national team over the decades).

That does seem like a good move. I always thought he looked good and I know City fans really thought he was going to come through before they bought Ederson. While 13m seems high you would think that at least Southampton would consider playing him then.

I don't know how effective moving between PL clubs will be if you still have no experience. Gunn had a couple of seasons at least on loan with an excellent one at Norwich, I think it was just as much City thinking we have an opportunity to make money as much as it was Gunn seeing the opportunity. Hope he does start playing there as we will have another strong keeper for England

Yep. I think he was even called up to train with the senior England team at St Georges Park in the last year so he's obviously thought highly of.

Just been watching clips of Mason Greenwood who made his Utd debut last night at 16. The lad looks very promising and has been playing up a year or two due to his size and quality. 17 goals in 17 games last season for under 17's and looking at him he is more like a Rashford type then an out and out goalscorer.
