Callum Hudson Odoi unhappy with game time at Chelski. Lamps giving him tough love. Bayern circling again. Truly don't understand the advice that some of these players get. Bayern wanted him, he wanted to go, signs a 5 year contract in late 2019 when he was months
from being able to sign a pre-contract with them. Instead he gets bought into the hype, is locked in and will now likely be sold for a large fee

He was sold a lie by Chelski...

I think a lot of players are pretty thick and get pushed into contracts by agents and such who just want a slice of the pie. Zaha is a classic example where the player has painted himself into a corner because of the £££££££££.

But here's the thing, I don't think that happens, it's not as if Dortmund gave Sancho permission to speak to Man Utd for example and they apparantely agreed personal terms?

Nothing to stop them offering terms to an agent on a hypothetical deal though.

Yeah that's my point lol, when did this become accepted? As far as I know it was always clubs agreed a fee then personal terms were discussed.

The agents have just found a way round the rules. I think it's always gone on but just not as publicly as now.

Seems very commonplace now that players agree deals with clubs before a fee is agreed, didn't they used to call that tapping up? I suppose now it goes on so much that clubs are powerless to stop it. Agents of players and clubs are in constant contact with each other so I'm guessing this goes on in literally every deal...just seems strange how everyone nowadays seems to accept it, this wouldn't have been so accepted across the board say a decade ago.
Clubs often let the players and agents agree terms while the fee is being negotiated.

Tapping up definitely goes on too, but this is often normal.

It would be literally impossible to do a deal on e.g. Deadline Day if the player's contract wasn't negotiated simultaneously with the transfer fee.

Having seen Leicester's transfer tease tweet this morning, I think they win the non-Spurs best tweet of the window..

Leicester have confirmed his loan signing. It's smart PR though. WWE's BT Sport and UK twitters are RTing. Gets Leicester out there.
