Well I'm not sure they still have Keita who can effectively do Wijnaldum's job and be a box to box central midfielder, I think what may make them weaker is shifting from their style of play which has been so successful over the last 2 years and if you're going to incorporate a playmaker in your team as good as Thiago that means that almost every play will have to go through him to build attacks. That means the forwards won't get the ball as quickly which is IMO where they are at their deadliest. What he will provide though is the ability to break down stubborn defences which is what they have been missing against teams who bank up.

I think some people are underestimating the quality player Thiago is, its as much what he brings mentally as well as playing wise. The guys is a born winner.

Thiago will be a great signing for Liverpool, annoyingnly.

Surprised Keita hasn't left yeah, now they will have:

Henderson, Milner, Keita, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Fabinho, Ox plus 1 or 2 youngsters I imagine. Pretty stacked.

I’ll probably get slated for this but I’d take keita. He hasn’t looked that bad when I’ve seen him play plus he never seems to get a proper run in the side. He’s not a bad player, maybe there’s something behind the scenes like he doesn’t train well or something. I don’t know but he’s not useless.

For a great price as well.

Yeah it is an odd one because he was so hyped up when they got him, he had an incredible season in the Bundesliga. Never quite had a run in the team though since joining.

That Liverpool team have arguably the best player in the league in almost every position (bar about 3-4).

I know Thiago is injury prone but he is one of the, if not the, best creative CM in world football now Modric is getting on a bit. Do annoying Liverpool are picking him up. They are have got to a point were they can just buy one player a window. Shame, we could have been there a few seasons ago. They have such a fantastic team.

How on earth are they getting the same price for Brewster that they're paying for Thiago?
Thiago only has a year left on his contract + English kids' premium.

Pool are experts at extracting the English kids' premium from desperate bottom half clubs, far better than we've been over the years.

Brewster is also really good - think he's better than Origi, who they probably should have looked to move on this season.

Agree on Liverpool. They are going to be a level or two above us for a few years now unfortunately. Could see them breaking the points record if he hits the ground running. The only risk they have is an injury to one of the front three. They could do with more depth there. If City can sort their defence they will be there as well. Looks like we'll be competing in the second group for the remaining two CL places. Expect Chelsea to take some time to integrate all the new players but they could be a force next year. Quietly hoping that one or two of their signings turn out to be flops. Havertz would be great ?
