I genuinely thought he'd retired.

Doing an Ivanovic became a name for a player who was absolutely quality but suddenly looked hopeless. See also Gary Neville.

I can't imagine he's got any better in the years since he left Chelsea.

I'm still a bit surprised we weren't linked to him first though... ?

Have to say that looks like a good piece of business. Surprised Roma are letting him go for what appears to be a somewhat cheap price.

Hopefully they want Lamela back now. Much as I love Coco, I think his time has come.

ITK from horses mouth for those interested.

Rhian Brewster will join Sheff Utd for 25 million.

This is providing a buy back clause is agreed with Liverpool
Buyback clauses seem to be the new wine for big PL clubs. It's been done on the continent for years.

Sensible move, if Brewster shows his potential he should start for Sheffield United sooner rather than later. Up top is the area where they're most lacking.

Could be an option in my fantasy team.

Already got him in mine on the bench when the rumours started. Nice little cheap option that if he goes to a sheffield etc... he should get a decent enough amount of game time.

Seems like a good move for all involved

Thiago will be a great signing for Liverpool, annoyingnly.

Surprised Keita hasn't left yeah, now they will have:

Henderson, Milner, Keita, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Fabinho, Ox plus 1 or 2 youngsters I imagine. Pretty stacked.

Koeman wants Wijnaldum at Barca so I expect the chances of that going through increases with Thiago signing. And Ox is permanently crocked so I think Curtis Jones is in for a lot of action this season too.

Which means Wijnaldum will be sold, thereby making them weaker in my opinion.

Well I'm not sure they still have Keita who can effectively do Wijnaldum's job and be a box to box central midfielder, I think what may make them weaker is shifting from their style of play which has been so successful over the last 2 years and if you're going to incorporate a playmaker in your team as good as Thiago that means that almost every play will have to go through him to build attacks. That means the forwards won't get the ball as quickly which is IMO where they are at their deadliest. What he will provide though is the ability to break down stubborn defences which is what they have been missing against teams who bank up.

Grealish signed a new 5 year contract with Villa - silly boy, another Zaha that'll never be able to leave for a bigger club.

Careful now, we praise Harry for staying put, can't slam another player for doing the same thing.
