Ah, so thats just another 40mil backup for City. I'm not from England so maybe I don't understand but I'm shocked to see how pissed people were that Liverpool won the league instead of City. Fuck Man City.

Ferran is a gem. That’s a steal of a price. Two-footed, shifty, with bite to him, he’s improved his end product massively this past season in a Valencia side who don’t really create many chances. He’s the player who’s relied upon to drive the team forward down the wings and get into good chance-creating areas. Insane buy from city, he’s gonna be a star.

If we see smart recruitments by the club then I couldnt care less about what others did.

We bought Wanyama, Sissoko, Nkodou and Janssen in 2016 whereas United, Livepool, Arsenal and City spent heavy and we still did better than them.

The key is the sense of the signing. For example, Wanyama made perfect sense. Not high profile or expensive but what we needed. The others more risky.

If Jose makes lots of Wanyama signings I don't care if City are spending 200m on world class potential.

Playing with Laporte will help Ake a lot, let's see whether he can make the step up.

Does this mean the rumours of Stones being available are true? I know he’s got an error in him, but really think in our new system that sits deep he’d be insane. His arial and ball playing stats are outrageous.
He would be a good replacement for Verts; so comfortable on the ball. Would take him in an instant, but I can see him going to Arsenal as they would love a CB and city don't see them as a threat.

3 of those 4 signings didn't contribute to our success during that season and we spent £60m on the ones that didn't

I don't think Ake is signed for backup, I think he'll start with Laporte. What are the alternatives, Otamendi, Stones and Garcia? The only way Ake is backup is if they sign another proven CB.

There are bargains out there to be had as long as you are decisive in your action with acceptable bids. If you make your interest known then follow it up with a lowball offer, the selling club will throw it in the papers to drive interest and the price up. Then they go to deadline day as the haggling increases.

If only some owners realised the transfer game has now changed to 10 years ago.

Sam Lee (their top journo) said they want to sign another CB with Koulibaly at the top of the list. They wanted Ake for depth/rotation and they want a starter alongside Laporte. They're going to spend over 100mil on CBs this summer.

Did you miss the part where I said more Wanyamas
No I saw that but I think you made a bad point as we had a bad window

Also you directly mentioned Liverpool, look at who they signed and its clear they had a great window and it contributed to more long term success than us

Mane, Matip, Wijnaldum, Klaven, Manniger and Karius spent £61.5m

We brought

Wanyama, Nkoudou, Janssen and Sissoko spent £67m

Wanyama was huge for us but they had a better window, yea 2 of our signings worked long term. Had we signed someone like Mane instead of Sissoko that year, we may have won the title

I look at Zaha and laugh as you see reports of him being worried about being priced out of a move and he only has himself to blame for that. I know club loyalty should be praised and all that but I'm shocked Zaha is still a Crystal Palace player. In saying that it's a shame that such a move is not possible for us also, in thinking about it we're still only a few signings away from all of a sudden looking a really promising team. Well I say a few and that's more like 4 or 5 but if we line up as such for instance:

Lloris

Aarons Sanchez Alderweireld Davies

Hojbjerg

Coutinho Lo Celso

Zaha Kane Son

I know many aren't fond of Coutinho but I still think he's a level above many currently at the club and one thing he was perfect at for Liverpool was bridging the midfield to the attack, they looked so disjointed when he wasn't present until they changed their football after he left. And in having someone like Zaha I think we'd finally have that attacking addition that is someone who is quite the threat on his own and opposition teams would be very wary of. Plus having Lucas and Bergwijn in reserve on top of that and a backup to Kane and that attacking unit would truly be complete IMO.

I'm not saying that these things are possible but I just think we could really get back to where we were if we push the boat out a little bit for a couple of players. Of course though this is Spurs and it's something that we have a history of not doing at the right moments in time.

Whilst I like him I don't think he fits in a Jose team, Jose loves his wingers to track back and put in a defensive shift...Willian, Di Maria, he even had Eto'o doing it and there's the well publicized fall out with Hazard when he said he wasn't working hard enough (he went on to win POTY next season mind you) and now Lucas.

I don't see Zaha doing that and I don't see the club shelling out north of £50m when we already have Lucas and Steve who can play in the wide positions.

Also Countinho's wages are massive so again don't see the club going for him.

I don't think that midfield would work. You want Coutinho further up as he's not exactly a playmaker. And he would be bossed in CM.

Coutinho isn't like Eriksen and has always been more effective in the front three.

Zaha would be a good signing as he can play up top too, although Im not sure if he'd work in a Mourinho set up.

Yeah that could be true, but to be honest the player doesn't have to be Zaha specifically, just someone of that ability. Not suggesting they grow on trees or anything mind... I've just always felt our team for years has just missed that very dangerous player in addition to just Kane.

Quite possibly yeah, I can't remember where he played for Liverpool but I just remember the performance and difference of flow of their play when he was present/vacant was similar to that of us with Eriksen, not that that means they had the exact same roles. It's a shame as everything I thought Ndombele would be would be perfect for that position.

I just think players of that stature, of Coutinho and Zaha, in those positions could be massive for us. One could argue the difference in looking at us like we may 'just improve' next season under Jose or actually really challenge for things.

Utd will get Sancho. I know he's good but I dont think he's nearly as good as the hype

I love how he didn’t hesitate to leave England to progress his development. His shrewd career choices and his obvious immense talent have earned him a deserved blockbuster move back to England. I have to say though he is well worth the hype. He probably won’t have as many goal involvements but his impact on Dortmund should carry over in the prem. He’s a massive threat and garners a lot attention from defenders because whenever he has the ball, you just expect/know something dangerous will happen. He didn’t impress at Wembley last year in the R16, but his improvement and trajectory is enough for me to say that he will be a hit. Only worry is price tag pressure, but anyone who moves to United tends to have a lot of pressure on them. Obvs don’t want him to be a world beater as I don’t like United nor am I English, but everything points to him taking the league by storm.
