Good on Bournemouth, why should they sell to a rival knowing they've just got £80m for Maguire.

You would have thought Leicester would have had some centre back targets in mind or even signed before now....I mean its been common knowledge he was goingto United for the past 6 weeks

Rodgers should look abroad if he wants a CB, he will get fleeced if he went for dunk or ake.

We need to fill our HG quote with punts for 16-18 year olds we've developed and academy lads - there is absolutely no reason to trade domestically atm. Maguire just is not that good. We have 3 better centre backs, four if you count Tanganga which I obviously do.

Wow. Fair play to Utd,
Ridiculous figures but they’ve gone out and got the RB and CB who they wanted.
And most importantly, will be better for it.
Big believer in sometimes having to pay up (and maybe/clearly over the odds) to get what you need.

Not our model - but it’s worked for others

Thing with United though is that they look better defensively now but weaker up top.

Liverpool did it the right way by buying the attackers first, so they can still win games if the defence didn't turn up, then focused on the defence which has given them a strong core throughout. United it feels like they don't have enough fire power up top to compete on 4 fronts.

How are they weaker up top if they haven't sold any attackers?

Sorry was called away at work:ROFLMAO: Didn't finish what I wanted to put

What I meant to say is that over the past few years they seem to have become weaker up top. Some poor signings haven't helped that; Di Maria, Sanchez, Lukaku, Falcao

Just seems like they've thrown a lot of money at it without thinking about building, whereas now, defensively they seem to have got a plan sorted and look like they have a defence that can grow together. All good ages too.

I mean Lukaku I still think is ok? He looked much better under OGS than he did under Mourinho but they seem to want him gone.

This did cross my mind, however with the re-emergence of Shaw and Lindelof last season, coupled with Maguire and AWB they've got a pretty strong first choice defence which could be around for 5-6 seasons to come.

Shaw (24) - Lindelof (25) - Maguire (25) - AWB (21)

De Gea

That's not horrendous by any stretch of the imagination.

I personally think they'll struggle to get goals this season. Rashford, Martial and Sanchez aren't going to score 20 goals a piece. If they don't replace Lukaku, they will have a lot of boring low-scoring games next season.

If they had a decent manager they’d be pushing us I suspect.

Lukaku's been pictured training with Anderlecht while he waits for Utd to sort out a transfer, what a joke of a club.

I'm so confused, do Arsenal have money or not?! o_O

I could have sworn one of our ITK's on here said they're basically in the shit and can't afford to buy any players...but they've spent more than us this summer already!

Of course they have money, it's in their best interest for everyone to think they're skint. They've done a great job at convincing people.

They earned £590m last year in revenue, don't act like they've gone out their way to pay, they have to pay over the odds because teams come and see then from a mile away.

Everton after Monaco right back sidibe. Why aren’t we in for him?

He was one of several key players during their recent golden era and got rewarded with several caps for France but that Monaco team has pretty much dissolved into nothing and I can only suspect his form along with it

He, like Bakayoko, was part of a good group. Hasn't been as good since.

I've never understood this. Just because a team claims to be paupers, should affect the valuation the club has of a player. If I value player X at 40m, but arsenal come to me and say we only have 30m. I'm not going to do them a favour. It could stop you from getting mugged off by paying the rich club premium, but any club not adding that to an English club already must be run by morons.
