Lol...

Feck it. So whilst Levy and Spurs will point to the fees for the likes of Ndombele and City's purchase of Rodri when trying to secure Celso.

Betis will be pointing to what Felix went for.:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Christ, not sure who's making the bigger blunder - United for trying to buy him at that price or Leicester for not biting their hands off.

Or they’re after someone else related to Leicester and will get a reduction on fee due if they inflate City’s price. The only way this makes sense

Atletico have had a busy few weeks.

Joao Felix in, Hector Herrera in, Felipe in from Porto, Marcos Llorente in last week, a Brazilian left back and Argentine striker also signed.

Lucas Hernandez out, Rodri out, Gelson Martins out, Vietto out, Mensah out. That's about 200m Euros there. Marginal profit so far, I'd think. Godin left for free.

Big rebuilding summer and probably Greizmann leaving very soon too.

Helps they didn't have to pay for their stadium either.

Buffon doing his medical today - This had me laughing so hard :ROFLMAO:

I wonder what ever happened to that steward? I would assume he was sacked but haven't heard anything since the day after it all happened.

Leicester just signed Ayoze Perez from Newcastle for £3million. It's being reported in the media as £30million but i'm pretty sure thats a typo as i'm sure Leicester couldn't possibly be that dumb.

You really think 30million for Perez is dumb? Especially in this day and age?
In a pretty poor Newcastle side he's been averaging about 10 goals a season. Nowhere near prolific but considering where they are in the table and the lack of creative options in the team he's not a bad player who knows where the goal is.

Put him in a better side in Leicester to share the workload of an ageing Vardy and an off-form Iheanacho and I think he'll get goals. And At half the price of a Wan-Bisaka I think he'll do his price tag reasonably well/fine.

Honestly the way transfers are nowadays it's actually more likely that the 3m is a typo to be honest. People pay 3m just in loan fees for PL-proven players. You can't buy a kid with half a season of Championship football under their belt for 3m nowadays.

I was just having a look on a couple of Newcastle forums and they just don't care any more, this site would be in meltdown if we'd just sold one of our best players but there's hardly any posts, they really have given up. Can't really blame them....

Rafa's been the only thing to be positive about for them for years and even he's gone now. Has to be the final straw for a lot of them.

Have I gone mad or have I just wandered into an alternative dimension where Ayoze Perez is actually worth £30million?

Honestly, this transfer absolutely boggles my mind. Football's gone crazy. £30million is more than we paid for Moura, Son, Janssen, Lamela, Soldado, etc. all of whom were higher profile players than Perez when they signed.

Have you been watching the transfer window of late? It's really hard to compare Soldado and Lamela's transfer to Perez's because of when they were. Even Son and Janssen's were still a while ago in comparison to when the transfer marker and prices sky-rocketed.
Of the players you've mentioned, Moura is the best comparison and it's not that hard to explain it. Yes, Moura is the better player but Moura wasn't playing at PSG and was literally not needed there which made his value decrease. Not to mention there's always been a premium put on Premier League players so they'll cost more.

Look at some recent premier league transfers and their prices:
Wan-Bisaka just went for 50+ million after literally one good season
Dominic Solanke went to bournemouth for 21 million last season
Ben Gibson cost 16 million from Middlesbrough to Burnley
Matej Vydra cost 12 million from Derby also to Burnley
James Maddison cost 25 million from Norwich to Leicester
Harry Maguire is rated at above 70 million
Zaha is rated at 80 million

I'm not saying they're all bad players (a fair few of them are great talents and prospects) but 30 million for Perez isn't that weird today.

The Neymar transfer changed it all. Obviously smashing the record fee, but also what happened after that - the prices Barca then paid for an established player in Coutinho, and, probably with more impact, one of the hot prospects in Europe in Dembele with that money. That set benchmarks then for different brackets of player that clubs could quote and just trickles all down the foodchain, prices go up.

Obviously the seemingly ever increasing influx of money (especially in England) and inevitable natural inflation has been seeing the prices go up and up, to what we already thought were pretty crazy, but I think that deal just massively accelerated the whole thing. A key moment in the modern football transfer market.

Yeah. It’s beginning to become bad business buying even semi proven talent from England. Better to buy talented potential youngsters very young or develop your own snd spend the money on foreign players around Europe where you can get equal or better quality cheaper.
