Barcelona have signed Mike Van Beijnen

Who’s that you may ask...? Just Frenkie De Jongs agents son... surely just a coincidence though

Bet he's really good though, right... right?

Well..

He was rejected by Ajax U20, only played a few friendlies for PSV U19 and played just 9 games for NAC Breda U21 last season.

Oh.

And already Barca have slapped an £86 million release clause on him.
N.O.T...D.O.D.G.Y...A.T...A.L.L.

Not sure what you mean? In spain they are required by law to put a release clause in his contract. How much is up to them. They don't want it too low as he might turn out to be great and someone can buy him for less than his market value. So they set the price high.

Fair enough, but if I interpret that Tweet correctly he's only signed a 2 year deal.
No way he's going to suddenly become an £80 million player in that time. I'd wager he never sets foot on the pitch, in a competitive game, at Camp Nou.

Then nobody will pay £80m for him. Most release clauses (historically in spain) have never been met.

Out of curiosity, do these clubs use these release clause values in order to price up the "assets" of the club?

No. That would be player amortisation.

Say if you buy a player for £10m and give him a 5 year contract then his value would be £10m in the first year. £8m in the second. Then £6, £4m £2m.

Seeing de Ligt availbe at an absolute steal at £63m (apparently) just goes to show how inflated PL prices are inflated with maguire at £70m

If that’s true then why on earth wouldn’t we be after him? People will complain about his agent but if we could nab him for £63m, then if he is made to move in 3/4 years you’ll be looking at getting double that anyway

TBF, we are a more stable club than all of them. For a young player who wants the next step we are a better bet than those you listed.

Also dont you have to be over 30 before you can start for Juve at CB?

Maybe more stable but if you’re offered a starting role at Barca/ Madrid I don’t even think we’d be considered , plus the amount in wages they’re paying

There’s a pretty good chance it’s £63m for the player the same again for his agent

Because the reason no one has signed him yet is because they are throwing outrageous contracts at him. Raiola would laugh if we tried to get involved.

Ah damn that Tierney move will be a good use of their limited funds I think. Hopefully Celtic hold out for 20m +. Doubt he turns Arsenal down, they are liable to massively increase his wage
