How on earth did he turn down Pool and City only to choose Scum?!
City crying out for a player of Zubimendi's quality but Liverpool probably feel Gravenberch has cemented his place instead plus they have (or will have) much more pressing squad concerns and where resources need to be allocated.

Zubimendi is a quality little player, fair play to them for somehow convincing him.

However, until they get a proper striker, I'm not worried about them winning anything significant.

If by the end of the summer window they've done a deal for Gyokeres/Isak/Sesko then we're really at panic stations.

Must be nice to be constantly strengthening from a position of strength. It’s also much much easier to do that than trying to convince top players to come to you over others.

to think what has happened to us and them since that night we pipped them to champions league is sickening.

To be fair I think we are doing a good job of reshaping our squad which is now filled with some extremely talented young players. It should pay off for us over the next few years you would hope.

been said a million times already but unless you supplement those talented youngsters with ready made quality then you’ll always be playing catch up. If this season has shown us anything is that you simply cannot forget about the here and now for the promise of jam tomorrow.

The difficult part is keeping them all together in order to reach that pay off. Not many players will happily look at what MIGHT be in 3 years time when the big clubs that are already regularly winning things are flashing their knickers at them.

Why would infinite-pots-of-cash Newcastle sell Isak?

psr troubles. That's why they had such huge restrictions in the summer and did so little apart from Kelly on a free and make Lewis hall permanent. If they get CL footie that would be huge for their budget but there was a lot of talk of them having to sell isak, gordon or one of their 2 Brazilians to bring in cash to spend. Isak would be the last one they would want to sell

Fair enough - do they not have any Academy type ppl to sell to maximise that?

That's why they sell Anderson to forest, Howe didn't want him to go at all and he's supposedly done really well there so it has hit them
Same with minteh to Brighton. Not sure they have much left to sell unless they do another dodgy deal like they did with forest for their keeper

In addition to PSR Isak has already stalled on signing a new contract, he has 3,5 years left but if he refuses to sign an extension in the next 18 months they're going to want/have to cash in.

Good player but any money Arsenal spend on a DM means less chance of them signing a top striker so not the end of the world.

Not exactly ITK but worth sharing.

I was out to dinner with one of the dad's from my son's team. We sat down across from his one of his neighbours - Miguel Molina (Arsenal Assistant Manager).

Aside from the general chit chat about Arsenal the only useful thing that I heard was that Arsenal had agreed a deal in the summer (2024) with player and club for Nico Williams but it fell through at the last minute. But he fully expects them to go back in for him this summer coming.

Hearing that and this Zubimendi signing has left me feeling quite annoyed as they are both quality players that could get in to most teams in the world and will take arsenal out of our reach for quite some time if it happens

I don't think he said why .
The only other thing they spoke about were Watford FC utilising some of their training facilities due to water leaking into the gas pipes and having Cadent dig up parts of the training ground. (Not really relevant)

The Watford part sounds entirely plausible
