He's too small time for us, couldn't even raise the cash to buy Everton. The palace lads did a number on him, he had over 40% of shares but less than 30% of voting rights. He's getting out cos he's realised his mistake.

I hadn't heard of this Textor guy, so looked at him on Wiki, and saw this:

On June 20, 2022, Textor became the owner of Olympique Lyonnais by acquiring 40% of the OL Group shares....On December 19, 2022, The Financial Times reported that Textor had acquired a 77.49% stake in the club through his investment vehicle, Eagle Football Holdings. The reported total value of the deal was $940 million (€884 million).

Not sure exactly how those numbers pan out, but whichever way you cut it, it looks like he paid the guts of $1b for OL

Seems an utterly insane amount, unless I'm picking something up wrong.

Yea Lyons previous owner Jean-Michel Aulas pulled his pants down for the deal and alot of people were saying that at the time that he massively overpaid.
He has tried to float his group in NY exchange but that quickly got scrapped as it became apparent it would not be successful.
His venture into football has been terrible with botofogo being his only success but that's his lowest profile one and smallest outlay.

The meltdown that they've blown all that money on a CM and still don't have a recognised striker will be delicious.
They will desperately need CM reinforcement this summer with two surely leaving in that department.

But as long as they don't get a top striker I don't think they can win a league title.
