Why is everyone in the world a fucking 'great player' in this thread?

An 18yo CB from France for 50m?
A flop from PSG?
And a striker with a 1 in 4 goal ratio (playing in Italy)?

And United have had a great window? They might do well, but it seems they're just signing randomly.

Villa as well, they've signed just average plodders but because they've spent some money it's suddenly good business.

And nobody here can tell me if Philogene is a good player or not. Because to do that you'd have to have watched Hull last season. And anyone who watches Hull in their spare time has an opinion that's probably not worth listening to.

I'm really not that impressed with Villa's signings tbh, they've lost their best midfielder, signed a lot of squad fillers and not enough difference makers. They're on course to do a Newcastle IMO.

To be fair, offloading that absolute piece of shit Greenwood and getting paid for him means United have had a fantastic window. I bet they're delighted not to be associated with him anymore.

Why are they selling Diaby? Thought he was one of their better players at times last season
It's really hard to understand what the plan is from Villa. Their transfer window has been Nottingham Forrest esque and after a good season they seem to be signing everyone.

Their wage budget is very high (relatively) and they are spending like there is no tomorrow. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Villa become the next Everton.

FFP wise it could be an issue on wages and transfers.

Here is some perspective, Villa have (roughly) the same wage budget as us but revenue wise they earn less than half what we do. How is this sustainable in anyway?

I think it's not outlandish to say that if they finish outside of the top 6 (very probable imo) they could be in serious trouble.

Good point, 26m they got as well, which is very good for United, even if they probably should have released him.

Allegedly a 50% sell-on clause too, which is insane. If one of the shameless big boys like PSG came in for him in a few years time United will get another bucket of cash.

Heard him described by a United fan as a young Varane. They'll be hoping he performs better than his predecessor, the actual Varane.

The average fan must watch a hell of a lot more football than I do because it's amazing how many strong opinions have been developed for every overseas player.

There's definitely a few avid watchers out there but I genuinely believe the majority is just Football Manager and FIFA.

People do watch overseas leagues more than they used to.

But the main reason is data and all the platforms like Wyscout.

You identify spikes in performance and then zone in by watching every attacking and defensive action of players.

Over 90 minutes or a season.

My subscription has lapsed but it's enjoyable particularly if you follow youth football.

Then there are YouTubers and bloggers who spend all their time doing it to varying levels.

Some of the good ones are very knowledgable and forensic about it.
