Do people here really want a loanee 30 year old taking a spot from one of Lucas, Son, Alli, Eriksen or Kane? Where do you fit him in?

If this season has taught us nothing else, it’s taught us that unexpected things happen. We already know players get injured, important games get scheduled within days of each other time and time again, and so on.

If we want to push on we need a squad full of top quality players pushing each other for places and able to cover at the highest level whenever needed.

We’re not likely to suffer from having too many top-quality players.

Bale
His wages are ridiculous. RM would do a lower loan deal with anybody, even less than the 10m loan fee mentioned in the press, but the club that takes him would have to cover his wages. Inclusive of all the add-ons, incentives etc, you are looking at paying out circa 3m (give or take) per month. So my opinion is no chance.

From the Daily...
Hmm... in that case it's looking less likely if we have to pay all the wages. This obviously goes against the Daily Mail/Sun articles, but I trust our ITK more.

Don't know anything either way, but I wonder if his heart is still in the game. He's got a young family, all the money he'll ever need, increasingly frequent injuries and doesn't seem to be that committed to being part of the Real Madrid scene - skipping team dinners, going home by himself etc. Sure, he's being frozen out by the manager, so that won't help him feel like being part of it, but seems like he's isolating himself as well. Even when he plays well, the fans aren't on his side.

A move away could help or it could be just going through the motions. Real Madrid was meant to be his dream move and he's won everything, but now I wonder if he's had enough of the whole thing.

Agent Jonathan Barnett has played down talk of the former Tottenham man returning to England in the past, but he conceded a sizeable financial package might now be enough to land him. "It certainly is possible if somebody puts their hand in their pocket and pays us what we think he deserves," Barnett told Sky Sports. "You shouldn't ask [how much]; it's going to be a lot of money."

Doesn't sound like Spurs. Sounds like Man Utd, maybe. Or, if abroad still, PSG...

The desire is still there, you only have to look at how he performs with Wales.
Loan deal for a season would be excellent.

Sounds like how Man U were, or have been have been over the last few years. There are signs of the penny finally dropping though in which case they will realise Bale is not the answer to their problems right now. On the other hand we are in a very different place from Man U and I think he would make an excellent signing for us. He is still capable of scoring and changing games at the highest level. We would be getting a different Bale to the one we sold but I don't think that's an issue, our needs are different now too.

Bale would be a fantastic addition to the team. He's a model pro too, so would be a great boost to the youngsters coming through and an easy fit for the seniors and Poch. He has the kind of big game experience we need more of.

I do think that Bale coming back would be a good idea for us and him. He doesn't seem to fit in at RM and by all accounts is very insular. Coming back to spurs would as some have said allow him to rediscover his love for the game and to operate under less pressure to a degree.

From a THFC point of view he has still got immense talent and can finish and create, is a proven winner who can deal with big occasions. He could be great to guide the younger players we have/get as he does within the Welsh NT setup. It would also be a real statement of intent from the club and potentially persuade other targets to join.

Although there is a large upside, I would definitely not want him if it is at the expense of our team spirit and harmony. If he costs us a fortune and just swans around like Billy big bollocks thinking he's better than everyone who has got us to where we are right now, then he can go to PSG or stay playing golf in Madrid. If he wants to come to play football for the love of it and isn't going to cost us the bulk of our budget and wage bill, and wants to just be part of a club that loves him and is capable of going further than we've gone before, then get him as a special one off marquee signing.

2 year loan deal would be perfect. Afterwards he could be "finished" and we wouldn't be stuck with his massive wages. The loan deal hears plausible financially, and could hide his wages, so that he isn't payed from Spurs more than Kane is on.

Wherever Bale ends up I think the main factor will be money. Considering his age and injury record, I think it's time for us to look forward, put the 'Bale return' to bed and move on.

Wages are really the major issue here. I would imagine any loan fee could be negotiated down so I'm not going to dwell on that.

I remember in previous discussions around his wages there was talk about his image rights which incidentally he has ceded 50% of the ownership to Real Madrid. I have no idea what his image rights are worth annually but I would imagine it's quite sizeable.

If Madrid are agreeing to pay around half his 600k per week wages, leaving around 250-300k and then his image rights going back to him accounted for another significant portion then maybe we can get closer to a wage that fits roughly within our wage structure.

As I say, no idea on numbers here or whether this stacks up. Just speculating.

Bale’s like that teenage GF that you had who was a great shag , good times and memories but now when you’re in your 40 we’ve both moved on in our lives. No thanks, best let the great memories stay the way they are

If he came he wouldn't even be in the top five oldest players in our squad.
Didn't someone post some time back that Real Madrid own his commercial rights or something? If so I'd expect that ten million to come with all of or a perentage of those rights so money back I reckon. You have to wonder how the commercial side would be affected with Kane, Son and Bale in our team.

I wonder if this would really be the case though? I mean it's not as if he would be joining a squad full of kids or journeymen. He wouldn't be the sole superstar in an ocean full of mediocrity. Our team is packed full of household names- the captain of the England, the captain of France, probably the best and most famous Asian footballer in the world, players as hyped and talked about as Dele, Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Rose etc, etc. No way does it compare to the madness of Madrid but it's a far cry from the squad he left back in 2013.

I would pass...
Far too many injury problems!
And so much of his game was about his blistering pace, which I have not seen him produce for a while. Don’t think he would suit Poch’s ‘philosophy’ either at this stage in his career.

May also make the likes of Kane think , I can go Madrid get payed a fortune win loads of trophies and then return home as a hero when I’m past it.
Bale returning might upset the apple cart in more ways than one I think, he will want to start whenever he is fit, wage structure etc.

Will remember his time with us with great affection but bringing him back might be a really bad move.

If Poch wants him though, then who am I to judge.

Seems its a possible transfer that divides many. If we got 75% of games out him we will finish higher than 4th

I have a feeling he won't be sold/loaned until late in the window, because there's no one out there who is willing pay what he wants along with the sale/loan fee. Which is when Levy will pounce and try to haggle them down. This has deadline day written all over it.

Real will want him gone as early as possible, but I think most interested parties will want to haggle them down like you say. Could well be a similar situation to the VDV transfer.

Nobody is going to buy Bale this summer and nobody is going to subsidise all his wages. No chance.

He will go on loan, but where he goes on loan will be up to Bale. The only thing Real Madrid have to decide is whether they will accept the loan offer from that club or whether they carry his whole wage for at least another six months.
