Interesting stat they pointed out on MOTD last night that our goals for and against are stikingly similar to last year after GW20, and yet we're 15 points worse off. Surely Ange can't be blamed for this, as he was in charge last season too, so what gives?
Our problem is when we win,we win big. Usually by 3 or 4 goals. When we lose normally by one goal.
Before last night we had the best defensive away record . 9 goals.
Even when our defence returns it won’t improve much. Look at the last ten games of last season and the first 9 of this. Europa or bust.

We look on course for 10th with just under 60 points. But of course, as previously stated , that is roughly where we finished for our last 3 trophies. 2 x 10th and an 11th place.
That is all I’ve got to cling to these days.
Never mind this entertainment crap. I went to the 1999 league cup final v Leicester. Probably the worst ever final at Wembley . But I still remember the diving header from Alan Nielsen . Marvellous moment.
Further to this. 10th is looking a bit optimistic. At least 4 pts from next two games or we are right in the shit.

You don't think we'll get 7 or more points from:

Forest (a)
Wolves (h)
Newcastle (h)
Arsenal (a)
Everton (a)
Leicester (h)

I get that people are sad/despondent but I think/hope we'll get 7 points from those fixtures :cautious: :cautious:
Well... FUCK

I thought we'd beat Leicester and Wolves. Turns out even that was way too optimistic.

Just goes to show how long this has been going on and even more damning is how most fans saw it but somehow the club didn't.

Updated after United. No improvement on equivalent fixtures as we beat them last season at home 2-0, but improvement on GW25 v GW25, as we lost last season 2-1 to Wolves in that match.

Updated after the weekend. No change to points after equivalent fixtures or number of games played, as we beat Burnley 5-2 and Palace 3-1 last season for GW26.

Next up we have City at home, who we lost to last season 0-2.

As an aside, we have 36 points left to play for, meaning if we win every game remaining, we'll have 69 *chortle* points, so unless Liverpool start dropping a serious amount of points, we probably need to rule out the title this season. :cautious:

Updated after City. No change on equivalent fixtures and slipped further back on number of games played, as we beat Villa 4-0 last year. Now 20 points less than same time last season, which if we weren't would have us somewhere around 3rd. Imagine that?

Next up Bournemouth at home. Last season we beat them 3-1 at home. For GW28 we lost to Fulham 3-0 (a)

Updated after Bournemouth. Beat them 3-1 last year so dropped another 2 points on equivalent fixtures. Lost to Fulham on GW28 last season, so improved slightly with our total points to be 19 points less over the same number of matches.

Next up Fulham away. Last season we lost 3-0, so an opportunity to improve the points diff game. For GW29 last year, we beat Luton 2-1 (h)

Updated after Fulham. On the plus side, we only lost 2-0, compared to 3-0 last season, so the jokes on them.

Next up Chelsea away, and we always famously do well there. Last season we lost 2-0 and in GW30 drew 1-1 with West Ham

This thread has the potential to be bangin next season, really excited
I was thinking that EXACT same thing after the last update. Filled me with hope. But it's the hope that kills you. Hope and Spurs.

Couldn't find one of these threads for this season and I find it interesting to see how we are performing in relation to last seasons equivalent fixture. May help some people get some perspective on how we are actually performing, or under-performing

I have taken the 3 promoted teams to replace the 3 relegated teams as 18th (Luton) = 1st in Championship (Leicester), 19th (Burnley) = 2nd in Championship (Ipswich), 20th (Sheff Utd) = Play-off winners (Southampton)

Up to Villa we were doing okish, since then it’s a whole heap of red!

I stopped updating this as it was just too fucking depressing, but decided to get it updated so next season it will look EPIC... hopefully.

29 points worse off for equivalent fixtures is horrendous though innit. Remember how exciting it was after the 1st game. We were FLYING :cautious::cautious:

This thread will go from an occasional curiosity to the centre of the party if things go well next season. 🤙
