Couldn't find one of these threads for this season and I find it interesting to see how we are performing in relation to last seasons equivalent fixture. May help some people get some perspective on how we are actually performing, or under-performing

I have taken the 3 promoted teams to replace the 3 relegated teams as 18th (Luton) = 1st in Championship (Leicester), 19th (Burnley) = 2nd in Championship (Ipswich), 20th (Sheff Utd) = Play-off winners (Southampton)

TeamResult this seasonResult last seasonPoints diff gamePoints diff season
Everton (h)4-0 W2-1 W00

Thanks @mightyspur I really enjoy looking at the direct comparison from last season to this, you’re right it does bring a sense of perspective!

Wonder how much grimmer it will look by the end of January when we've still got less than 30 points.
You don't think we'll get 7 or more points from:

Forest (a)
Wolves (h)
Newcastle (h)
Arsenal (a)
Everton (a)
Leicester (h)

I get that people are sad/despondent but I think/hope we'll get 7 points from those fixtures :cautious: :cautious:

I think we'll beat Wolves and Leicester. The rest I'm not so sure about it.

We currently average near 1.5 pts per game so 9 points would be average.
If Ben is back get Archie Gray in midfield.

We look on course for 10th with just under 60 points. But of course, as previously stated , that is roughly where we finished for our last 3 trophies. 2 x 10th and an 11th place.
That is all I’ve got to cling to these days.
Never mind this entertainment crap. I went to the 1999 league cup final v Leicester. Probably the worst ever final at Wembley . But I still remember the diving header from Alan Nielsen . Marvellous moment.

Thanks, Mighty Spur.

Since Ange's first 10 games its been a bit of a struggle. I hope it doesn't stay flat when our key injured players return, like it did last season.

Will Ange get a couple of good signings in the door next month? Do Levy and Lange trust him enough?

Things are looking up! :cautious:

This time last year, we lost 4-2 to Brighton. Remember that game, that was fun.

Interesting stat they pointed out on MOTD last night that our goals for and against are stikingly similar to last year after GW20, and yet we're 15 points worse off. Surely Ange can't be blamed for this, as he was in charge last season too, so what gives?

Updated. This time last season we were essentially safe from relegation. Good times.
