I read this morning that our last home defeat was back last November..

I don't really remember off teh top of my head, when we last used WHL as a fortress, a term you often see held for the likes of Old Trafford or Anfield.

I'm trying to not get excited, as it is only one game, but if we beat Hull and then the Hammers, I will find it more and more difficult to maintain that excitement of what will become this year.

Home form has been fantastic, so for that, I'll be waiting to see if our away form has improved, as I have a feeling that will be key this season.

We were excellent at home in 2005/06, just lost to Chelsea and United at the beginning and end of the season both quite unlucky. Other than that, I am not sure. We were quite good under Graham but that included many 0-0s.

Last 12 home Premiership games

Played 12
Won 8
Drawn 4
Scored 16
Conceded 4
Points 28

Includes victories over that Chavs and Pool and draws with Utd and Arse and in those 4 games the only goal we have conceded was yesterday's penalty.

Oh and we've won our last 7 straight at home in the Premiership!

Just surprised at how well we do at home. Even on Motd last night the pundits were saying its a difficult game to play.

Were as I clearly remember the days of '6 point lane' etc etc

It is good to see, and for me a good positive to how we have improved. Lets take this form into the away games, and who knows?!

I genuinely feel confident about beating anyone at The Lane... It's a bloody beautiful feeling!

It's a great feeling isn't it? I go into home games now expecting to win. Even yesterday I knew a draw would have been a good result, but I honestly would have been disappointed.

It looked like the Lane was bouncing yesterday, most of the crowd were in white and the sun was out - it's such a great footy ground!

I think we've all been thinking the same thing that we could do well this year but we're all keeping schtum.
I watched all the experts on tv and none of them even mentioned us other than maybe pushing for top 6 in passing and I thought YES!!

Sshhhh!:)

Just think, we are already ahead of last year. No more 2pts from 8 games.

Yes!

In terms of v. last year though, we actually beat Liverpool at home as well as Hull away and West Ham away. So comparatively we wouldn't be doing much better. The way we played was a huge plus though and of course getting off to a good start builds confidence.

You are right IOMLS, wins against those 3 last season, after the 3 games, we should have 9 points.

Although there is no doubt that we were very very luckyt against Liverpool last year, we won, but Liverpool were by far the better team. This season we won and deservedly so!

As I said, Hull first, then worry about getting another one over the Hammers. I'll take 9 points from first 3, I know we then have to entertain Chelsea and Utd.

Hull and Hammers away from home, then Birmingham at home, before Utd, then Chelsea.

Lets hope we can take the current form into those two away games, get a good home win, before the difficult matches.

The key to success this season is picking up more away wins, I think our home games will look after themselves more or less.

I've been really pleased that there hasn't been all the 'Spurs to break the top 4' hype this preseason. We've just been able to get on with things quietly and watch City take all the attention.

Bingo....I think we've always been strong at home (save for the calamity at the start of last season) but we lost a lot of points away from home due to a lack of physicality/organisation.

I think Wilson will help with that, our defence looks stronger now and we have a few more attacking options with the likes of Crouch and Modric settling into the team so hopefully things will be a bit brighter.

All this optimism makes me uncomfortable though.

I heard this morning that Spurs are unbeaten in all competitions at home for the whole of this season. Fantastic stuff, we're going to do the quintuple.
