Fuck what's practical, what do you miss, what would you bring back, what would you change?

No1 on my list would be to get rid of VAR :D

I've also an issue with the structure and/or existence of some of the UEAF competitions. They originally got rid of the Cup Winners Cup because of fixture congestion which shows what fucked up/short sighted thinkers the people who run football are because now we have gone back to three competitions, with even more games and the fixture list is at breaking point. I know why but still, i'd go back to the old format, European Cup for champions, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup.

Then i'd like to see the return of the Home Internationals, maybe bi-annually but ideally as it used to be.

Finally, off the top of my head, i'd disband Arsenal, they are an affront to anything that's right and fair :woot:

There’s too many games.

Bin off the league cup completely, and rejig the papa johns trophy or whatever it’s called into a British cup where clubs from all four home nations get entry, exclude teams that are in Europe from fielding non homegrown players until the quarter finals. That way youth gets a chance, and the home nations get a leg up too.

Ban multi-club ownership, introduce Europe wide transfer fee cap, wage cap, and proper PSR rules with actual teeth.

Get rid of the video screens in VAR. If the VAR sees a genuine mistake then they overrule the ref, it would be quicker and clearer. The video screen rigmarole is just pantomime. 99% of the time the ref watches it and takes the advice of VAR. It wastes everyone‘s time and it’s all just to salve the ego of the on field ref.

I'd quite happily let these self styled "super clubs" go and form their super leagues or whatever, and let the Football League go back to the way it was.

Clubs being about community and the football.

No more US style hype. Just get out onto the pitch, announce the teams, away we go.

Black leather football boots.

Spurs winning cup finals again.

VAR run by former players. The Kane penalty proves that VAR officials are useless

Split the football year up so there’s only a domestic season and then an international season
The mid season international games are the worst

Bring some common sense to the rule book. Allowing defenders to defend, use technology to solve problems and not cause more or promote the art of simulation.

Reduce the games in Europe so that 2 leg semi finals and fa cup replays are not cut to the detriment of the wider football pyramid.

2 seasons per kit...

A better understanding from officials as to what a feigned dive actually is (you know the leg sticking out and falling over to win a pen/foul).

Offsides done by the foot, rather than body parts.

Reserve Team football.

Some great suggestions. My favourites:

Bin VAR.
Get rid of extra time.
Get rid of mid-season internationals.
Bin the Conference League and replace it with The Cup Winners Cup.
More Satuday 3pm kick-offs, remember the days when it was more or less a full programme on Saturday?

Can't blame the officials for that one IMO, they're only applying the rules as they've been set (even if it means the call is egregious) and they'd get punished with a poor performance review by UEFA if they didn't. That said, I would change the rule that meant it resulted in a penalty:

I'd bring back indirect Free kicks inside the box for handballs that don't deny an obvious goalscoring opportunity and fouls where players aren't moving towards or facing the goal. Penalties should be reserved for rectifying foul play that denies a goal, not handed out any time something happens inside the box.

I miss a lot, but very specifically on FA Cup final day, the long walk out from the tunnel at the old Wembley across the pitch. Led by the managers with the buttonhole, players drinking in the atmosphere and feeling the occasion as they look around them. The shots of the crowd and the flags and the huge sense of anticipation building to a climax. So much better than the players walking a few yards out of the tunnel at new Wembley in front of a half-empty VIP section to a load of flamethrowers.

I'd bring back goalkeepers who can't play football at all. And I mean AT ALL.

I'd change the length of a match to 120 minutes so that once again players run out of steam with a quarter of the game to go, instead of still being able to sprint to close down space like Usain Bolt in the 95th minute. I want the middle third of the pitch almost entirely empty from the 105th minute onwards.

Actually, I just want it to be 1985 again.

A few ideas;
- Ideally remove VAR but otherwise have the communication between officials and VAR broadcasted to remove ambiguity
- Reform the handball laws
- Offsides to remain semi-automated but happy to go with @Shanks on foot rather than body parts (worst being shoulders used).
- March Internationals moved to end of season prior to tournaments
- Removal of Extra Time and straight to pens in all competitions
- Prohibit Multi-Club and State ownership
- Ideally transition to a 50+1 model for all clubs
- Limitations on erroneous sponsorship deals
- PSR enforced more rigorously to ensure competitiveness and promote sustainability
- Ticket prices capped across the board
- FA Cup games played solely on Saturday and Sunday and stop this utter nonsense of having the Draw before all the previous round matches have been played

multi club ownership has to go, but you can’t have salary or transfer caps

the loop holes in ffp there needs to be a way of enforcing it and stopping bull shit hotel sales and player trading

  • Teams get two VAR calls per game like in tennis/cricket - no wasting time on random reviews where nobody has even appealed for things
  • Mic'd up referees, linesmen and VAR officials in every game, broadcast in real time like rugby
  • Nobody representing any country at international level that they didn't live in before they turned 16
  • Managing a country at international level should have the same nationality requirements as playing for them
  • Scrap the Nations League and replace it with a "Nations League" - the title winning manager from each of the major leagues in Europe picking the best XI of players from their league for a mini-tournament.
  • Ban stuttered run-ups on penalties. Don't understand why keepers get penalised for coming a milimetre off their line before the kick but the taker is allowed to stop running and feint
