I'm all for choice but I can't think of anything worse than being cramped in my seat eating and drinking... I mean it is onky a couple of hours without a beer... Or food.

And what happens if there is a goal? No doubt the beer will end up spilling and shit.

Now if there were cup holders? Perhaps haha.

Its crazy that you cant drink. All it does is encourage people to get really drunk before the game and the consequences are far worse. Would be a good first step along with standing to bringing some atmosphere back

If you're a non-drinker (for whatever reason), then the current arrangement is quite nice as you can flee to your seat and avoid it........if they allow it in the stadium then you have little choice.
*should point out that I love a beer or twelve, but just think there's the presumption with football fans that we all drink and this might preclude sections of society from being able to attend/enjoy a match.

I do find it amazing that the old WHL had a 15 minute window each week to make bucketloads of cash.........and yet they never seemed to be prepared for half time, ran out of stock constantly, and took forever to take the lid off as plastic beer bottle!

It is the same as the cinema - why can't people go for an hour and a half without food and drink - if they ate and drank less, perhaps we wouldn't have the constant stream (pardon the pun) of people going for a piss (being over 60, I fully understand the whole prostate and pelvic floor blah blah, but if you drink less, you pee less!).
If the rule changes I don't think the showers of beer every time we score will be a huge problem during the coming season though.

Makes sense to allow drinking in the stands. Slowly people will realise you don’t have to cram 10pints in before kickoff. I think everyone will be better off for it.

Pretty much every other sport you can drink in the crowd. You’re not obliged to, but you can if you choose. How that would stop non-drinkers from attending baffles me. What are you basing that on??

Not every crowd is the same though.

You can have a drink while watching golf, but I'm not sure that the fans there are downing pints or there is much of an issue with violence between fans.

I can't think of another sport where you'd get showed with beer every time something vaguely interesting happens. I have a couple of friends that would instantly stop attending if they started having to he home covered in beer....... Like I say, I love a beer at the football, but don't want my mates to miss out because of something so moronic.

Wont happen, for me I dont think it should because of the mix of children, drinkers and non drinkers. However, there needs to be a change. I think allowing sales throughout the game would be a better option

How often do you get showered with soft drinks? Do your friends not mind that?

There is already that mix of people in the stands?!
If anything, those who would normally already be drunk would be drinking in the stands instead.

I think the idea is to stop people congregating at half time en mass to squeeze in a quick pint, most sensible people would just grab a bite and a pint and go to their seats if they could, grab an extra beer after a piss during the game etc.. instead of all queeing up for the 10 minute interval at half time
Yep. Clubs will ensure more concession revenue that way too. Opens up the concourses allowing more people to buy beer.
