Team Form ___ Crvena Zvezda __ WLWWW ____ Spurs __ LDWLD (All Competitions)

Crvena Zvezda (CZ) last hosted us in a European match in December 1972 in the UEFA Cup winning 1-0 but going out 2-1 on aggregate. CZ have never lost a home match in the European Cup / UEFA Champions League against an English opponent (W2 D2 L0), winning 2-0 last season against Liverpool.

Including qualifiers, CZ have only lost 2 out of their last 21 home matches (W11 D8 L2), though one of those was against English side Arsenal in October 2017 meeting in the UEFA Europa League. There have been a total of 104 attempts on goal in CZ's opening three CL games this season (40 for and 64 faced) - FC Bayern Munich (102) are the only other side to see over 100 shots in their games in the competition this campaign.

CZ's Marko Marin created 6 chances in their 5-0 defeated against Spurs on Match Day 3 - No player has created more in the UEFA Champions League this season (13, level with Toni Kroos).

Our 5-0 win over CZ on Match Day 3 was our biggest victory in major UEFA European competition since winning 6-1 against Anothosis Famagusta in the UEFA Cup in September 2007. Our last two UEFA CL matches have been by a five-goal margin, losing 2-7 to Bayern, before winning 5-0 against CZ. We are only the 2nd team to have a 5+ goal defeat and victory in the group stage of a CL campaign, after Rosenborg in 2000-01 season.

Kane has scored 18 goals in just 22 UEFA CL appearances, including 4 in three games this season. In the history of the competition, the fewest number of games needed to reach 20 goals is 26, set by Alessandro De Piero in April 1998. We have both scored and conceded 9 goals in the CL so far this season - in none of the previous 27 seasons had this ever occurred after 3 games, although FC Red Bull Salzburg have also done so this season (11 for, 9 against).

Lamela had a hand in 3 of our 5 goals against CZ last time out (One goal, Two assists); he has been directly involved in 8 goals in his 8 CL starts for the club, scoring 2 and assisting 6.

The teams are the wrong way round in the banner*. I was optimistic about the match but after seeing that, I see no way we're going to win now.

* unless that's just some convention here of always putting us above.

Big game. Win this then win at home to Olympiakos and we are through. Hopefully this competition brings us some respite from the Premier League this season. COYS.

I think he always put us first on all banners, whether home or away

Considering what they did last year at home I don't really expect us to win this

A win tho would bring us very close to qualification which would bring something to look forward to post Christmas

Can't see us winning this, even though we smashed them 5-0 at home.

Red Star are much better at home, and we might underestimate them, which equals us to loosing points.

Thankfully I can't watch the game tonight.

Edit: Tomorrow

Same team as the last round, we'll be reet.

Although I'm sure there'll be some tedious racist bollocks from the home fans, which will ruin the game.

If we had the players available then I'd agree, but for entirely different reasons, it's highly unlikely that Lamela, Kane and Son will all start, there are even doubts about whether any of them will start. Of the three and it's a close call, I think the most likely of these three to start will be Kane.

It's been crazy in the CL the last couple of years. One year we dominate the group stages, outplay everyone and then in ten poor minutes get knocked out. Then the next year we scrape through with last gasp goals and get to the final without looking at all convincing. There seems little logic to how we end up doing so maybe this is part of our great plan to win the CL ... play rubbish like Real Madrid did two years ago and end up winning the trophy!

Poll says “Spur to lose” which I feel is a bad omen. Therefore I’m going for a 2 nil defeat.

we really don’t cope well in a hostile environment and it doesn’t come much more hostile than this. The meltdown on here will be huge even though most people will be expecting a defeat.

Don't think our players will cope with the atmosphere. We could really do with something here.

I wonder if they have a walk off plan if the racist nonsense starts up?
