It's all our own doing and transfer policy or lack of at times!
Whilst our transfer policy may have been less than favourable, there is no point in those last 20 years where we could have competed with either City or chelsea in the transfer market!
It's also worth mentioning that financially we are now able to compete with arsenal, Utd, and Liverpool in the transfer market (should we choose to do so) - that is something we wouldn't have been able to say 5 or 10 years ago!

You will never stop the moaners, club has built a £1 billion stadium and yet has still competed in the transfer market over the last five years in a respectable fifth place.

if Chelsea buy and sell hotels to each other, although they are a sports club and there are different tax rules, surly they would have to pay capital gains taxs still?

If anybody needs a bedtime story to read and once again the PL is represented by a leading KC, Jane Mulcahy , these theories that the PL can't afford top representation against the clubs are just nonsense.

I got as far as she is the leading silk, and my concentration wandered inexplicably.

Don't even remember this QPR story from six years ago , Man City have already tried to claim the Associated Party rules are unlawful the result of which we have heard nothing , will they now try claiming FFP rules are unlawful, seems QPR tried that route with the EFL and failed.

If Man City thought/think these rules are unlawful why didn't they do something about them before rather than just ignoring them and doing what they want ?

On the APT issue think it was the tightening of the APT rules in February that they didn't like and prompted them to claim that they are unlawful.

Don't think they have any intention of claiming that FFP/PSR rules are unlawful, they deny that they have broken the rules but if they did try to claim they are also unlawful there is now the precedent that an independent arbitration in the QPR case deemed they are lawful in relation to the EFL so same should apply to PL.

The new PL handbook for 24/25 has been published on 25th July and the Associated Party Transactions and Fair Market Value Assessment rules are still in the rule book, has the Man City claim failed , has it taken place or will the rule book need to be amended at a later date ?
The lack of any news is quite strange , has no journo got a mole inside the PL.

Guess that means that it’s either failed or if successful it won’t be this season. I’m suspecting its the former. Is the wording the same as last season though I wonder?

I'm thinking that as well, football clubs are not like other businesses , a majority have agreed on a set of rules for what is a closed shop for the length of a season and that's it.
A previous arbitration for the EFL when challenged by QPR found that FFP rules were not against competition law , expecting the same sort of result in the City claim on APT.

Thought this may be of interest, what with the pending appointment of a football regulator.

They're advertising for a Head of Legal, Shadow Football Regulator. Looks like the role is to help set up the actual regulator position, once the various legislation is passed. No idea how far off the actual Regulator appointment is, but seems things are progressing.

Oh and i'ts £75k a year. I would hope the legal team to advise the Regulator, once they are in place, earn a bit more than that if they're going up against actual football clubs and their long list of KC's!

I suspect Man City and Chelsea have applicants ready to apply… :cautious:

Interestingly the Regulator (and this appointment) will be based in Manchester. Location TBC.

I could see Man City offering the use of one of their offices for free. For free you say? Well all we ask is 115 favours from you...

Still be the PL ensuring that PSR/FFP rules etc are enforced so it is they that will be paying for KC's to go up against the likes of Man City or others .
Here's the bill for anyone interested , goes on a lot about suitable owners, clubs not relocating etc ,
