Interesting idea, however I think you should have to use 2 by the 60th minute. It would take time wasting to a new level if a team can bring on a substitute in the 88th, 89th, 90th, 91st and 92nd minute in a game when they're holding on.

Edit - just seen this bit:

The five substitutions would be allowable within a maximum of three slots, as well as during half-time.

Sounds like a good idea now.

A stupid idea for 2 reasons just off the top of my head.
1) Purely from a football pov this is an idea designed to benefit the richer clubs with more world class players at their disposal. Thats what its about. It does fk all for the lower end of the table teams.
2) We're in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. I would have thought minimizing the amount of people in any one area would be the way to go not fucking add more! Twats.

This wouldn't add any more people? You're still going to have a squad of 18 players at the game, it's just what number can switch during the game.

Its adding more people to the field of play and increasing the risk of infection.

I hope this gets rejected.

I'd rather the Premier League increased the number of subs just like Seria A.

Why increase subs? It just benefits the bigger and better teams creating even more of a gulf between top and bottom.
Watford are beating Man City 2.1 for example with 10mins left so City make sub number 4 or 5 bringing on another world class striker and end up fucking winning. I dont want to see that.
If you cant get your team selection correct with 3 subs , even with injuries, then you're a shit manager and dropped points because you deserved to.
I dont buy the resting players crap.
This is for the top 6. No one else.

Great news. Gives us a chance to take Kane off early and give game time to all the other strikers we’ve got in the squad

Questionable whether this is the same competition?

Competition should be finished using the same rules when it was stopped.

They'll be suggesting free agents can move & play for new clubs next.

This season may as well be voided.

We'll not only have the farce of some of the games being behind closed doors but a change in the number of subs that can be used. Changing the rules part way through the season is never a good idea.

There are decent arguments to be had on increasing the number of subs, either that a team can use, or available on the bench but I don't see why they need to look at it under these current circumstances.

I've always said the best way to introduce extra subs is give everyone a free u21 academy player sub once all subs are used.

If this happens, are they going to place more seats in the dug out as the subs, coaches and medical staff are supposed to be at least a metre apart?

Surely there won't be any social distancing once they restart. Its impractical.

Spot on; I mean there's 22 players on the pitch who will be in close contact for a start (although our defence was doing a fairly good impression of social distancing earlier in the season)

If the only way to start playing again is by bringing in stupid new rules then lets not restart playing.

I reckon there would probably be enough empty seats in the stadium that they wont need to add more.

I disagree. When this restarts there may be a game every two or three days. The richer clubs have got enough top players so that they can rotate their entire team every game. The smaller clubs can't do that. They might have to play the same players in nearly every game, making it more likely that they will need to be subbed off during the match to give them a rest. It's a move designed to minimise the risk of injuries to players during an unusual time when rest periods will be greatly reduced.
