With the January transfer window open, the clubs chasing a top four place have the opportunity to bolster their Champions League hopes. One player who has been earmarked for a move to the Premier League is Velez Sarsfield's Facundo Ferreyra, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and cash-strapped Everton. With more on the Argentinian, it's talkSPORT's Transfer Spotlight.

Name: Facundo Ferreyra
Date of birth: 14 March 1991
Birthplace: Lomas de Zamora, Argentina
Position: Centre-forward
Club: Velez Sarsfield
Honours: 2012 Argentine Primera Division
International honours: Argentina Under-20 (12 caps/5 goals)

What's the latest?
After firing Velez to the Primera Division title with a week to spare, European sides have started circling after it was suggested that Facundo Ferreyra could be on his way sooner rather than later. The 21-year-old's 13 goals in 15 league games has not gone unnoticed, and reports have suggested Tottenham and Everton alongside Internazionale and Roma as potential destinations.

Did you know?
1) A native of the Buenos Aires district of Lomas de Zamora, Ferreyra joined local side Banfield as a youth, where he progressed through the clubs ranks.
2) Nicknamed 'Chucky', he was fast-tracked into the Banfield first team during the 2008/09 season aged 17 and scored his first goal in just his second match, a 2-2 draw with Argentinos Juniors. His breakthrough season came in the 2010/11 campaign though, with Ferreyra scoring six times in 19 appearances.
3) Following Banfield's relegation in early 2012, Ferreyra was the subject of a tug-of-war between Boca Juniors and River Plate, but opted to join Velez Sarsfield.
4) He was named as the 2012 Primera Division top scorer, after his 13 goals helped guide Velez to the Inicial title (the Argentinian league is divided into two parts, with the Inicial being the first).
5) He has become a regular fixture in the Argentina Under-20s, and was most notably the second highest goal scorer at the 2011 South American Youth Championships, only behind Neymar, who led the scoring charts.

Who?

Edit: Yes I know you've just done a full biography of him, so I do now feel like I know more about him than my own mum, but still, who?

Falcao was brought to Porto from River Plate. This one has AVB's fingerprints all over it...

Falcao arrived at Porto before AVB

Anyway, this is what I posted on COYS re Facundo Ferreyra (I live in Argentina)

He didn't opt for Velez, River signed another striker and decided not to pursue him further. Boca never wanted him.

He's a poacher. He's not pacy, and not so techincal. A good finisher, but nothing out of the ordinary. Velez has good team work, and he benefited from it. He certainly wouldn't have scored so much for River or Boca.

He's consistant but average. He doesn't have a quality that stands out.

Maybe in the future he will develop, but atm I wouldn't sign him. A fair comparison in england is Connor Wickam.

If I were to sign a striker from Argentina it would be Funes Mori. He has the right qualities for the english league, although he would need to get his head straight. And then there's Ricardo Centurion who's a tricky winger, who'll end up in one of the big clubs in the next couple of years. Porto is desperate to sign him. That should tell you how good he is.
