be a nice touch/pr move if levy sent a few quid tamworth's way to offset the replay cash they would have made but obviously lost with the new rules.
A couple of press articles today criticising the FAs decision to do away with replays at the behest of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, which negatively affects smaller clubs down the league structure. Tamworth are the extreme example. When we played Marine a few years back they made around £0.5M through TV money and creative marketing - they sold ‘commemorative match day tickets’ which didn’t get you into the game, but raised funds. The positive impact on Marine cannot be easily measured.

i agree that the club should financially reward Tamworth for the money they lost by not having a replay. It might even allow them to get a ‘real’ pitch.

It's swings and roundabouts. They beat barrow via penalties due to no replays. Chances are they lose the replay to barrow and don't even get to play spurs. You can't have it both ways

This is Levy we're talking about, he's more likely to sue the FA for our lost revenue missing out on beer sales we would have taken in the replay

Does anyone know when tv schedules will be decided for the next round?

I would be surprised if they needed or wanted a “real” pitch.

The cost of a pitch is a minor part of the ownership and upkeep of said pitch. One of the reasons Tamworth use an artificial surface is to allow the pitch to be used by multiple teams. That is not going to change with installing a sod surface.

It’s a small community team that can not afford the annual upkeep required to keep a grass pitch in playable condition.

I can't believe Utd Leicester is being shown as a TV game.
It's United. They were selected for TV something like 80 rounds in a row stretching over years and years no matter who their opponents were. That streak didn't end that long ago.

Plus van Nistelrooy narrative.

If I'm not mistaken every one of United's fa cup games have been on TV since 2003 or something ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure I remember "celebrating" the end of that streak not too long ago, but I can't remember when and it was just the one off where they weren't selected.

Obviously you always get a vocal minority saying they'd rather watch a lower league tie, but that's what they are. Broadcasters are only really interested in what pulls in the viewers, and they vote with their time - Man Utd is a guaranteed way to get better numbers. It makes sense considering that there's lots of people who can't afford a Sky/TNT subscription but will watch a game with one or two big clubs if it's on for free.

Are there alternate viewing options in the UK? In Canada, I can watch every League Cup match on DAZN but sadly one of our dogshit media companies bought the rights to the FA Cup (and only the FA Cup), so I have to watch whatever they’ve decided to put on TV or pay for their streaming service - never happening, but if I did I could watch any game I wanted. Fortunately they tend to put all the games involving a Premier League club on TV.
