Cant wait, Prob more looking forward to the transfer window being closed. Then all the talk will hopefully stop off the pitch and we can focus about what is happening on the pitch

Will this mystery third kit be revealed on Saturday? Surely the white first kit and the dark navy second kit will clash with Newcastle's?

Football is shit now.

I can sense the apathy. No one really gives a shit.

After 2 weeks of proper sport football really needs to look itself in the mirror and it needs change.

My feeling about Modric sums it all up for me. When I compare it to when Sheringham left the club in 98 I was absolutely gutted. I can honestly say I couldn't give a rats arse whether Modric stays or goes.

I have never felt this way before a season I really don't care but what it's worth think Spurs will finish will finish no higher than 6th with the current set up and dont rate our new manager at all.

You really are a miserable :censored:, arent you?

Like many, I'm failing to get too excited about the new season, mainly because the Olympics has been so brilliant it has put football firmly in the shadow, rightly so too, football is full of utter scum in comparison.

Also our dealings have left a lot to be desired!

Once it kicks off I will no doubt get hooked once more and the excitement will come back but right now I'm not too bothered about it all. Have not even read a report about the community shield let alne seen the goals! If we aren't playing I can't see me having too much of an interest this season. Last season I think I watched motd about 6 times in total! Back in the day I used to watch every minute of that show without fail.

I am always excited about a new season but this year something has taken the gloss off a bit? I think the Olympics was so good for me it has effected the new season, we will see once it gets going

Modern football is rubbish.
Still PL-opening day is one of the highlights of the year, despite what Chelsea, ManC et al are doing to our game; CL and all about money was bad enough, but now it's gone way to far.
Hopefully we'll get wagecaps and a working FFP before the game is killed off forever.

I'm prepared for a 5th-6th this season, but hopefully the way we archive it will feel better regarding our future than the taste left from the Redknapp-fuckups last 2 seasons.

Have to admit I didn't even realise we were so close to the start of the season until I saw the Community Shield on TV and even then I wasn't too fussed as I was more interested in the boxing finals. Like many have already said the Olympics has been brilliant and for me personally it dwarfed the Euro's and last season in terms of excitement.

As much as I love football the league is only competitive among clubs owned by billionaires who are willing to spend ridiculous sums of money. We're struggling to sign strikers to bolster our ranks while Man City have Tevez, Aguero, Adebayor, Dzeko, Balotelli and Santa Cruz on its books. We're one of the richest clubs in England and Man City's 5th choice striker is on wages that we can't afford. I thought UEFA's financial fair play rules might even the playing field but unfortunately that doesn't seem likely as loopholes have already been found, like the Etihad sponsorship. Granted, some nations spend a lot more than other nations in developing talent for the Olympics but it's still a lot more competitive than the Premier League. Look at the USA in boxing, despite spending millions of dollars over the years they only won 1 of the 13 gold medals available (& only 2 of the 52 total boxing medals available). Ireland and Kazakhstan, who I imagine spend a lot less, finished above them in the boxing medals table.

On top of that you have the players. The whole Terry-Ferdinand court case was pathetic, basically two children calling each other names. Ashley Cole, Joey Barton, Marlon King, Lee Hughes, etc., are highly paid scum. How many times have we watched an England game and wondered if they are bothered that they aren't playing well & losing? It's only recently that football players agreed to play for England for free, before 2007 they got paid regardless of the result. Do you know how much Mo Farah got for winning two gold medals? Nothing. The BOA doesn't give out financial bonuses to medal winners.

As athletes growing up we never took part in our sports for financial gain. I certainly would have stuck with football if that were the case. I don't think any of us think for one second that we deserve the right to be paid to be here. We've all worked our socks off just because we want to be here. The gold medal is our payment really and to get the kit, to be part of Team GB, is really special. I think that is more than enough payment for us to be honest.

But the really sad thing is come 5:30 on Saturday I'll most likely be glued to ESPN and by the end of the day I'll be hooked on football again.

Being totally honest I'm still pissed off that chelsea won the CL and screwed us. I'm also really gutted that modric is leaving. Can we get the PL season postponed for another few weeks? It seems we aren't prepared at all.

I know people always want every one to be 100% positive about spurs all the time but I'm just being honest I suppose.

After the Olympics especailly-that vibe was special Go Mo !! the Euros (england's very poor ball retention) the EPL has taken a back seat. The pressure on the players and FANS to behave and show sportmanship will be of critical importance but i'm sure once it starts the joy will come flooding back.

It's too hot to be the football season! They really should start it after the transfer window closes in September, but I guess there's too many matches...

This classic video springs to my mind and at some points I can relate to it, like now:

I think our poor window so far doesn't help, I dread to think how our squad will last the season.... I'm most looking forward to our Europa League campaign tbh, we've got nothing to lose and it will nice to see the youngsters like Caulker, Carroll etc play

The funny thing is every season without fail, I'm never excited or into it until late September

Not too sure why that is

Perhaps I'm just always really busy in the summer with the likes of weddings on a Saturday so I miss the first match (es)

Or perhaps it's something to do with the weather - it needs to be a bit cooler or darker to get into the footy

But whatever it is, rest assured by mid October I'm on the edge of my seat all the way until April/May

Anyone else experience this? :)

EDIT - Opps, just saw the post above

as i make my first post on spurs community with apprehension about the the season to come, my nervousness is overcome by the prospect of it all kicking off again this saturday....EXCITED!!!!!....does not quite cover it, although i am unsure as many spurs fans will be at just what the new management, new system and new era holds for us i am looking forward to getting behind the club and especially getting to the lane as much as living in northern ireland allows me this season...COYS!!!

PS i plan less long winded posts in the future just had to get the first one out of the system :)

Not really. Not convinced by AVB. We still haven't sorted out strikers which we've had several seasons to do. Our best defender just retired and our best central midfielder is about to leave.
