We just lost 22 of 38 league games we are as far away as my 1st nappy

But we’ve gone from 5th to 17th.
Leicester went from around 15/16th (from memory) to champions.
Things can change very quickly. I genuinely don’t think our squad is far from top 5 at all. This season, for a multitude of reasons, should be an anomaly.

If Ange is gone which I expect he is it will be nice to be able to get a match thread where people don’t get scared to come in and join the conversation. No problems with anyone wanting Ange out but there really is no need to get so personal, to be unacceptably homophobic or to go on and on gleefully hateful of a manager. The enjoyment of winning the EL has pretty much gone for me after being here today. Which is a pity coz might be another 20 years before it happens again.

Nah, people who think any opinion that differs from theirs is inferior and should be burnt at the stake will always exist.

Ange isn’t under any pressure to deliver a trophy next season. We are under no pressure, so I don’t see why we don’t back him.
Let's me honest, he wasn't under any pressure to deliver one this year either? We're known as a team that always fails to win so I doubt Levy gave him that remit. The only pressure came from him and his comment about winning in his second year.

Sadly all a bit predictable, ran out of steam, ideas and basic lapses in concentration. Would have liked to see a few of the academy players given a run rather than flogging players who were obviously emotionally drained.

That’s not strictly true. The managers remit is to get CL football the next season . Ange delivered that but not through the League. Whether that saves his job or not is debatable.

Not sure why anyone gives a shit about this one, yeah the 20 odd that vame before it, but not this one

Yeah, there's a weird conflation. It's perfectly fine to say this game doesn't really matter because we won a trophy 4 days ago, finally, had a massive parade, most of the players got wasted and therefore there is no way the preparation was usual or effective. That's not an attempt to absolve anyone for the preceding 10 months of dogshit.

I haven't seen anyone being homophobic or hateful towards Ange. I've personally said I like him I just don't think he has what it takes to manage in the PL.
Then you must have missed it. Homophobic, no, of course not but hateful? OK, not since we won the cup but before? There has been plenty.

We deprioritized the league months ago and prioritised the Europa league.
We could have done better in the league but not without detriment to the EL campaign and it paid off.
In those circumstances I really didn't expect us to make this game an exception.

A few things from the game.
We clearly missed the creativity of Madison, Kulusevski ot even Bergval and to be honest if we can bring a top player in that position it would be transformative.
It was the first chance to see Archie Gray play a game in the midfield roll and he brought his usual calm to it, he receives the ball effortlessly under control and seems always to make the pass successfully even under pressure, is positionally aware and can make the tackle often due to that.
I was impressed, he's a good player now but I am now certain he's going to be one of the best.
No doubt we ran out of legs before the end and Brighton were really taking it seriously and by the way what a difference Mitoma makes to that side.

Thursday morning - several posters here “ I don’t care if we lose 5-0 Sunday in the deadest of dead rubbers”

Sunday evening -same posters “ange out - shocking we lost again”
I didn't care if we got tanked and still don't. More concerned about the rest of the season though.

Ange has shown that at its best, his football can be good. He can beat anyone and he can dig in and get a result.

At its worst, we look like a conference league side, we get completely outplayed and we are ridiculously easy to score against and once we conceded 1, we're on to concede a few.

I'm concerned that our set up doesn't work with his favourites. Our defence clearly isn't good enough but Ange isn't going to change any of his starters or stop his full backs flying forward so what's a transfer window going to achieve?

Maybe we get in a perfect DM to protect, but then why hasn't Ange been looking for one since he got here?

That's my only issue sticking with Ange, how can we expect next season to be different if we don't see where the change is coming?

I think its difficult for alot of people to get their heads round the concept of the league not being important. Over the last decade and a half it's been everything to us, making top four has been the ultimate aim, there were times when we even nearly made it to the top and others when we didn't quite make it just falling short but ultimately it's how we've defined ourselves.
To therefore throw that all out the window for whatever reason seems too revolutionary, even to win a trophy, but that's what we did and we need to accept that and realise that our league form effectively wasn't real.

Very odd round of honour. Felt just a tad let down on what should’ve have been a party.

Why all the families were allowed to flood the pitch so we couldn’t see the players to celebrate with the cup. They just seemed to be more interested in family pics and selfies than showing the fans that beautiful trophy. Maybe I’m alone on this.

Only Madders, Richy and Sarr bothered to come over to the south West and west stands to applaud the fans. The others just seemed to forget. Gave up waiting.

Won’t let that bother me. Still buzzing.
Totally agree, the game and the lap of honour were a bit of a buzzkill! And I thought Brighton were supposed to give us a guard if honour, what happened to that?

I agree but yesterdays game just brought the reminder, soreness and embarrassment of the last 4 or 5 months back. And did Ange in an interview when asked about the season say 'Outstanding!' or have I imagined it? That rankles me, also he said if fans were asked at the start of the season for this outcome we would have taken it. I paused and thought about it and think no, I'm still mixed on that.

It was lovely to see a good line-up of legends after the game, particularly Keith Burkinshaw who I've never seen in the flesh before.

I was a little concerned that Cliff Jones wasn't there. I hope he's OK.

But not very often. 15th/16th to relegated is much more common. It would be insane to think we’re too good for that to happen to us.
