I don't think that can be used as a stick to beat Eriksen with, he's a fine player and has been for us since he had been here.

That said Siggy should still be here, clearly it can't be right that Paulinho is still here but Siggy is gone.

Watched the game and he was very very poor. Olsen is trying something that hasn't been done before with Christian: Firing a rocket up his arse. Let's see if that helps.

Since he came to Tottenham it's been the same problem. He can be wonderful playing against the lesser sides but in the really really big games when we rely on our special players he just goes AWOL. Loses confidence, runs around a lot without having any impact whatsoever.

Perhaps he is too nice a guy, I really don't know. It's doubly frustrating because he has all the tools. Of that there is no doubt.

Still only 22 years, though. Plenty of time and all that, and I'm confident he will get there because he is so supremely ambitious, but sooner or later he needs to figure out how to find that special something for the big games. And we can't let his age be a shield for criticism indefinetely.

i think siggy has to go down in the list of really good players who just can't do it with us for some reason. Gio dos Santos, Dempsey, Pienaar ... Bale spring to mind. all move to other clubs and play better

Sigurdsson was tearing it up for Iceland the entire time he played with us. That he's done well at Swansea was no surprise. He's the focal point of their team, and they use two winger that constantly run into space.

A dream for any playmaker. With us, he got a few games as a playmaker in the start of the 2012/2013 season, but was very underwhelming. When he came back into the side, he was suddenly a left winger.

He would be nice to have in the squad, but I reckon he wanted to play regularly. That wouldn't have happened with us.

As a sidenote, Morten Olsen is a prick.

He blows hot and cold but we don't have enough competition in attacking midfield. If Paulinho can get his act together we could rotate more and probably get more from both players. Otherwise maybe push Dembele further forward or play Lamela central and Lennon/Townsend on the right but I'm not too keen on that.

Eriksen is like Siggy in that, for the moment at least he needs the team set up to play to his strengths, and to be cut some slack in terms of what he is not contributing. Tim took the view that Christian was our outstanding talent and took the pragmatic decision to build around him. That had not happened under AVB and isn't going to happen under Poch. Not expecting much from the Dane this season, but perhaps as his body adapts to the demands of Poch's philosophy, his brain will eventually catch up.

As far as I can see the system we play benefits no players at all.
Is that a fair assessment?
Seems everyone looks shit playing this way.
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say if thats the case surely the system should change to get the best out of your players.
