I believe he is a Spurs fan and I genuinely believe that he loves the club.
But ENIC is The English National Investment Compnay, making money is their priority. Once I realised that and and still saw progress on the pitch I was cool with it
Those old quotes are opposite of comments he has made since regarding going to WHL as a kid and the impression he was trying to give.
That said I am far more pissed off with the players who in my view should be far more proactive in regards to their wages.

I did mention it but what impact is the lack of matches on player bonuses, etc - is that a significant saving?

I think I read somewhere that we even had the best performance related bonus in the league.

About that ENIC has no interest in football - he said that 20 years ago??

@Archibald&Crooks what do you make of PL teams using the furlough scheme?
Well, lacking integrity as I do........Good luck to them :D

Joking aside I haven't thought much about it but now you've asked, my initial thoughts are that it's smelly. But then again it's football and money so it usually is. There's usually arguments on both sides that have merit and I guess this is one of those too but even so it'd be nice if clubs making savings on wages from the playing side were to look after the other side of the club and generate some togetherness and solidarity not to mention a spot of feelgood in these most trying of times (look at you A&C, you old romantic you).

There's not much good coming out of Spurs and this hasn't improved the vibe. Right now fuck football and bollocks to all of them in it. All this heel dragging about coming to a decision over the end of this season isn't about 'sport' its about money. It'd be nice if the club stood by its staff though wouldn't it?

The world is in the process of changing and if football doesn't change with it then I don't see how people can, in all good conscience, flock back to the badge with the same passion when they eventually start playing again. But we're fickle fuckers, so no doubt we will.

There you go, I guess if I pondered it a bit more I might have given you a better answer but "football is shit" is all I got right now :(

Not sure if this podcast link was posted but of interest (all opinions regardless of what you think of Duncan Castles & Co)

"Leading agent Bernie Mandic joins Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry to 'bring you the news before it becomes news' from the biggest clubs in world football".

Although 2 wrongs shouldn’t make a right. I weirdly feel better Liverpool have now done that.

No, some people won't be able to afford to.

And so begins the process of many other clubs doing the same thing.

Two best managed clubs did this. Half of the clubs will do the same sooner than later, especially when reports coming that talks between clubs and players haven't gone well

But are topping up their wages so they still receive full pay, you missed that bit out, and is the reason Spurs are out on a limb because we aren't

So it's ok to use the government scheme now as long as clubs top up their wages to 100%?

I depends on whether the season finishes I suppose. It has to be a grey area if it doesn't finish.

But they are not doing the same thing Bobbins.
We have reduced the wages of all our non-playing staff, so we don't pay a penny for them no others have, they are receiving full pay.
Everybody else is still paying them in full, 80% from government, 20% from the club, with the clubs showing they value their employees.

That is the whole problem, we have showed we value money, not the employees.

Quick question, have we said we went paying the other 20%? I know we have said they are getting the government 80% but I haven't seen anything from the club to say if we are or aren't? If not then we are all just assuming what's happening.

Yes, it was in the same statement. it said that all non-playing staff had their wages reduced by 20%, and that 550 were then placed on furlough, meaning we were paying nothing for them at all, and only 80% for the few that are continuing.

Not quite true... All 550 non-playing staff cut to 80% and those that were appropriate furloughed.
