This could be a permanent change in the image of our club. And you know what totally deserved.

Our offshore-"tax efficient"-investment opportunities-owners haven't got a clue about civic responsibility in a crisis. They are a disgrace.

Do you really think that our recruitment team hadn't already identified our summer targets or our scouts who now will whole day stay at home won't spend their time watching some players at Wyscout etc?

They almost certainly will (unless they are now pissed with the club for treating them like this and are contacting other clubs), and is just one example of why they should not have been furloughed.

The difference is a) they could make up the furlough shortfall. B) announce it after the players are sorted. C) look at Directors pay.

I’m a capitalist and know that Corbynomics would bankrupt the country. But in what world is it justifiable for a chairman of our club to be paid an average of £60k a week over the last ten years ?

But why should Spurs do this? Why aren’t you calling on every other business in the country to do the same thing?

What is it about football and Spurs which means they should operate differently to everyone else? And bear in mind we’ve already established that there is nothing like the amount of money sloshing about in football as many people seem to think.

So us being the only club to have done this in the League because all the others feel it Is the right moral thing to do to ensure your lower paid staff do not suffer hardship, whilst numerous others in the same business continue to earn millions, doesn't suggest to you, we have got this totally wrong then ?

Nope. And you know what? I'd rather work for a company that has a chairman and board that makes sound financial decisions that are in the best interests of the business. Doing what might play well in the press is for the birds.

Because in this situation a football club needs to decide if it is operational or not.
You cannot lay off all your operational staff and keep paying the players. We either have an operation or we don't, and that decision needs to be taken at the same time.

What we have basically done in respect of entertainment business is continue to keep paying all the actors, but laid off all of the cameramen and scriptwriters. All need to be treated the same.

You can furlough the employees who are effectively twiddling their thumbs at the moment.
For example, the club shops are not open, therefore the staff there are currently not needed. Yes, the club are taking online orders, but those would be handled by different staff.
Are all the office catering staff needed if 70% of the office workers are working from home?
Ticket office staff?
I would imagine the groundsman and his team are in the group taking 20% cuts as they still need to maintain the pitch etc and training facilities.

This thread and the negativity created by our own fans is yet another reason I haven't missed football. The negative drama some of our own (I use that loosely) create makes it less enjoyable both supporting/following Spurs and football as a whole.

The club’s PR is appalling.

But they do a great deal of very good stuff that never gets publicised, much of which is going on right now.

They also make mistakes. But they are nowhere near as callous as you believe they are.

I say this from extensive, close and direct experience.

Precisely. And how many people bashing the club are going to practice what they preach? If they're all so virtuous, they should have no problem in welcoming in one of the homeless or perhaps 'sponsoring' one or two with a regular cash donation.

Yet their work in the community and with the NHS is being overlooked by you and many others.

We don't know what the players are doing on an individual or group basis for charity, NHS and so on.
United's players may well have agreed that in the last few days.

Pretty sure given the deluge of negative publicity to the club over past week if we were giving wages to charity etc this would have been announced. Particularly with the spot light been put on our players given the stance of the club

Obviously we know about Toby giving the iPads and Dele is doing something with magic breakfast. Which are great in these difficult times.

For example, There’s property companies with annual turnovers of billions that are furloughing hundreds of staff. Much bigger companies than THFC. Nothing in the papers about that or the hundreds of other companies doing the same because it just isn’t news yet they are doing the same thing and are much richer.

Its not all on Levy btw, as much as I think he is wrong, but the players have a big social responsibility.

We as fans know about this, but most non-Spurs aren't aware, and both since overshadowed by the overall club news.
Besides which, anything our players or club do right now will undoubtedly be greeted with claims of "just trying to make up for what clusterfuck the club have made already"

Hasnt Son donated money back home to help.
We have also been giving away food and offered the stadium for use if needed.

Tobys gesture it has been very will publicised and rightly so in the media so sure non-Spurs fans will be aware of that.

Less so on Deles tbh not too sure what his involvement was with what he is doing. Wether he was just publicising the campaign was actually involved,

Hadn't personally heard about Son and the stadium usage and food banks has been well publicised. All good gestures but guess cause of the clusterfuck of the announcement this week its all been overshadowed some what
