Mate I can actually hear you grasping at straws here because 1/2 Extra games at that tournament was not the reason for the drop off

we are not talking about 1 or 2 extra games though Salah i believe only played 1 game in the WC and never played in any warm up games or games for Egypt during the season. Mane played 3 WC matches and a couple of friendly matches during the season, Firmino hardly played during the WC and only a few friendlies. we had Kane, Son, Alli, Dier, Rose, Lloris, Vertonghen, Toby, Eriksen, Sanchez all play more in the WC than anyone Liverpool did, they were also (bar Son and Sanchez) involved in all the new formated European comp, and Son also played the Asia games and Asia Cup.

if you don't think 10 of your main squad compared to 1 takes it's toll I suggest you take up playing Golf

the original build of the stadium was predicted at around £450m (memory from the stadium thread), apparently, materials from abroad double our cost once Brexit was voted in, not helped by the pound v euro

Absolute fantasy. At a worst case, materials from Europe may have cost an extra 5% although the building indices (which take into account labour and material costs) do not support such an increase. Rectifying the problems with the Fire Control system will have cost far more than any Brexit affect. In the panic to get the stadium completed, I suspect that they completely lost control of the budget.

Easy to blame Brexit, but I think the problems were far closer to home.

Also, the initial cost didn’t have the retracting pitch, the NFL facilities, etc, etc. The cost went up because of Levy’s desire to make it truly multi-functional, which may well pay off in the the long term.

True but for Tottenham? Or Enic? Or an NFL franchise?

If it was an NFL franchise, then that would benefit us as they’d have to pay to use it. I’d also suspect that the best chance of ENIC being bought out comes from someone wanting to own both a PL team and London NFL franchise.

Brexit is as convenient an excuse for Levy as Kane and Sonny is for Jose.

Nowadays, my main hope on the ITK front is that we get news relating to ENIC selling up to owners who want to see us achieve success on the pitch. Just plain bored of ENIC, Levy, Lewis etc and the way they operated.....their main priority has never been mounting challenges for silverware and after nearly 20 years of them, it is sucking the life out of a lot of the fanbase.

And yet we've mounted loads of challenges for silverware under them. Weird.

you WTF the post above after posting absolute crap. since ENIC took over we have played in 5 finals, 7 semi finals and played in 6 CL campaigns, 9 times in the Europa, compared to finishing mid-table for the quite a few years. can you possibly explain how ENIC/Levy 1 wasn't bothered with silverware 2, how they cost us to lose those crucial matches except the 1 we did win.

can you also please tell me without getting the club into debt what money they did have available over all those years, especially while building a stadium which now allows us to compete for players and offer them wages closer to the other clubs.

edit: wtf the post above the 1 above me, I've that person on ignore

Think you need to check your exchange rates percentages , the pound has been up to 16% worse off since the referendum so would have increased cost of any stadium materials from Europe unless contracts were signed before the Referendum but even then I suspect contracts may include a clause about the effect of exchange rates.

Brexit effect on the euro exchange rate
Following the Brexit referendum result, the Pound dropped sharply in value.
In just 4 months, the Pound fell over 16% against the Euro - including a 6% drop on the day of the Brexit referendum result.
The main reason for the fall was uncertainty.
Financial markets hate uncertainty.
Brexit created hundreds of questions with no answers.
All sorts of economic measures that underpin a currency were thrown into doubt - like economic growth, inflation and unemployment.
For the last few years, the Pound has spent the majority of time in a range between €1.10 – €1.20.
That's still well below the €1.30 level it was the day before the Brexit referendum.
So you could say it's still in the process of recovering.
Recently, some progress on Brexit has (finally) been made.
The Withdrawal Bill has been passed by Parliament, Brexit Day has come and gone, and a 12-month transition period has begun.
The Pound seems to be reacting positively to Brexit progress - as long as the end result is not an ugly divorce (a so-called hard Brexit).

Their valuation is £2bn, which leaves a very, very small number of potential buyers. You see why the Oil barons like a Newcastle for £350m, it represents far better value..

When did Levy or Lewis or anybody at ENIC tell all and sundry how much they would sell for?
As with all things you want to sell they will probably go to the person who offers the most that's if they do want to sell .
And the price will be some unknown figure everything else is guess work and conjecture .

To put it in context in less time the Chav's have won Five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups and two European trophies.

That's still out of context considering the original statement was that ENIC's priority isn't to win trophies.

Top four is Enic's priority. Levy and Pochettino were both on record saying that. I think Mourinho even said something along the lines of different aspirations.
