So other clubs are doing the ‘right’ thing. Well done them but I really couldn’t give a toss about them. All I’m interested in is our club still being around after all this and if that means making decisions that people don’t like then so be it. None of us know how long this will last. Most of don’t have a clue about running a small business let alone a multi million pound one. We could be bleeding money for all we know and the income tap has been turned off overnight so it is having an effect on us. And as far as the players go, the PFA are even telling them to stand firm and not accept any pay cuts. Only time will tell who did the right thing and the right thing for one club might not suit another. I think one thing is certain though, there will be some clubs going to the wall over this along with many other businesses, taking people with them along the way, spurs fans included. So in the scheme of things us furloughing 550 staff really isn’t the scandal some people are making it out to be.
There'll be a difference between say our players earning that cash and someone from the Championship or youth club on 1-3k a week who has his mortgage to pay based off his salary I suppose.

I wonder how the players feel knowing they're even more under scrutiny thanks to the clubs statement.

Don't give a stuff how the players feel.

As far as i'm concerned, they put themselves under this scrutiny by not doing the decent thing and voluntering to sacrifice a small percentage of their saleries.

We haven’t heard a peep out of any of the 550 on social media. Maybe they are fine with it (or want to keep their jobs!).

Are they able to do that with talks ongoing? And I know players like Toby have been donating stuff to people in hospitals and doing extra already.

They've probably been gagged.

Just like the players. The PFA are going to tell their members not to take pay cuts. I can see it coming a million miles away. I can understand that in regards to the lower division players.

It's their wages, so they should be able to. The fact that negotiations are happening with the PFA involved is annoying considering how much most Premier league players earn.

Like i said in a previous post, first team players forgoeing as little as 1 or 2 percent of their wages would probably cover the cost of retaining the 550 or so employees put on reduced pay.

That is bloody shameful from the PFA.

By all means they should protect the wages as best as they can for the lower league players, but Prem players should do the decent thing.

I agree it's their money and can do as they want with it. I was meaning (and explained it poorly) that if they agree to say 5% of their wages just now, and then they all agree to 20% decrease they might look bad if they then stopped the 5% also.

If it was me I would be waiting to see what my wage was going down too before I committed to extra. We all know they earn a shit load, but people spend withing their means, so they will have a large outgoings also so need to be smart with money....also what most people are forgetting is football careers are short, and the money they earn now might need to last them for the rest of their lives if they don't find another job after.

PFA are doing their jobs mate, again it comes down to morals but if they weren't acting on behalf of their players then they'd be no point to them.

When push comes to shove in times like these you see who the decent people/companies are and who aren't.

PR wise, i'm not sure Prem players could look worse at the moment, receiving their massive weekly wage while a many on the lower end of the pay scale get furloughed.

you do realize that Danny boy owns approx 9% of the club which is worth around 2 billion pounds.
And the other owner is a tax haven living billionaire.
But sure let's defend baldy because it is "our" club
there was a football club there once, and it felt, briefly and naively like one was reappearing
but let's face reality - we ain't a dortmund for eg:
I'm at the point where I actively dislike ENIC and won't give Spurs any of my money until either ENIC change their ways or they sell us on. They've undeniably improved the general standing of the club, but I don't believe that footballing success is their very top priority (I think they care more about business success), and - especially since we left WHL - I feel they've shown less and less empathy towards the fans, and become much less sympathetic in the process.

They haven't been a total disaster (although their trophy haul has been disastrous), but they are very, very difficult to feel any warmth for, IMO.

The problem I have is that the e mail was sent to all players. By all means the PFA should be protecting the lower league players, but they should also, imo, be encourageing PL players to take a wage defferel to look after the larger majority in football.
