Let's face it their "star players" are way better than ours. Guimarães, Tonali and Isak are levels above anything we have to offer and they support that with hard working players in every position.

Always worth pointing out as well, when Newcastle fans and pundits try to make out that they haven't spent loads like everyone thought they would, that there's no way they would have been able to sign the likes of Isak, Trippier, Tonali, Gordon etc before the Saudi money came in. Yes Howe is doing a great job, but they are also spending their way up slowly.

On one hand I know what you mean but on the other hand it’s so easy to be snippy and cynical about all things in football esp when it comes to the league cup but if you take a step back and listen to some of them you start to see that it really does mean something to clubs outside the typical big six.
