Chelsea showing actual ambition and trying to make sure of top 4 in order to progress further.

Levy just trying to do everything on the cheap.

Even if we get a new striker at the end of the month, if we’d signed them straight away then how many more points would we have by 31st Jan as a result of actually having a striker?

We could have been top 4 potentially.

Short sighted

Who have Chelsea signed this window?

Chelsea appear to be targeting One of timo Werner and Cavani as their striker.

They may not have signed them but they are trying.

We are being liked to Benteke, Slimani and piatek on loan.

Bit of a difference there and if you don’t see the difference there in ambition, then nothing I can say will change your mind.

The point is they haven’t signed anyone yet. Maybe wait until they have. After all how much grief would levy get if we targeted Cavani and Werner but ended up signing no one. You certainly wouldn’t get many people saying “oh well, at least he tried”

You can't judge Spurs on who we are being linked with when the majority of these "links" are bull. We're not interested in the likes of Benteke and Slimani. You can instead judge us on who we are actually signing... our most recent signings being Ndombele, Lo Celso and Gedson - all big name talents - so based on that criteria I would say we are showing ambition. Hiring the most successful manager in world football is also showing ambition.

Signing no one doesn't mean Chelsea are 'showing actual ambition' either.
I don't want to accuse you Justin because I'm not sure if this is you personally - but why do fans still look at what other clubs are doing? We're in fucking crisis and need to change things ASAP, forget everyone else

Not looking at any other clubs, just looking at Spurs, I think we need to manage our own expectations. We're in a "crisis"? We've just come off the back of consecutive seasons in the champions league and reaching the final last season, just moved into our world-leading stadium, being managed by the world's most successful football manager. Ok, our form is in a bad patch, but come on let's be realistic about our situation. We're clearly in a transition period now, so let's back the team, manager and even Levy to bring us more good times

We are backing the team, but no amount of backing from the fans is going to make our squad any younger, more balanced or less in need of a desperate refresh.

Why are we in a transition period again? It's like you're forgetting the past few years that have caused us to revert back to stage 1. And yes we are back at stage 1 because pretty much the whole team needs changing, and especially with Mourinho he's going to want specific players.
In an ideal world, we would of had a pretty established, top class team right now, up there in the mix with City and Liverpool probably, managed by Mauricio Pochettino. This is if Levy went through with that 5 year transition and closed it with finally splashing the cash to really propel us into glory. 'To Dare Is To Do' apparently.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been through pretty much the same, but FSG made the right decision, and now they are going to get loads of success. It makes me sick to think where we could be right now - 2018 and 2019 were mean't to be such important years in the history of our club. Now it's just all coming to shit a year later.
I back the team and want us to do well and still believe we can, I'm excited by Mourinho and what could possibly come. I just don't have faith in the ownership.

They can target a Messi and Ronaldo double swoop if they fucking like! Makes no difference if they sign NO ONE!

Leipzig are never going to sell their top scorer(Werner) half way through the season when they are challenging for the title. And with regards to Cavani, how do you know we haven't looked at him and decided he's not for us due to his ridiculous wages and poor recent injury record - what is the point in signing a striker that we need to hit the ground immediately when it's likely he will spend most of the time in the treatment room? Lets apply common sense before throwing around misinformed accusations about 'ambition'.

I was replying to someone else who mentioned that Chelsea are more ambitious than us.

I guess the argument could be made that given Chelsea have ways to make funds appear if needed, that they could target the likes of Cavani and Werner and have more hope because it's possible they would and could meet the demands of club and player more so than we are willing to do, but yes, until that happens....

The fact does remain though, that we do not appear to be linked with anyone particularly exciting this window, but hey, it's January.

They didn't spend any cash at all in summer due to their transfer ban, so they have money burning a hole in their pocket right now.

Precisely and to boot are still sitting top 4 and might appear to be attractive because they "look" as though they will be offering CL next season.

Ignoring that you're basing ambition off a few rumours, Werner would cost about £80M. We've got a limited amount of money to spend and we're not going to spend that much on someone to rotate with Kane when we've got other areas of the team that need to be upgraded.

Chelsea were also banned from spending last time round and finished roughly £100M up after the summer transfer window closed while we we were £80M down so it makes sense that they'd be more active in the transfer market than us in this window.

agree with everything you’ve said, but it’s also a sign of a huge philosophical problem for us. Werner would not just be a replacement for Kane, he’d be the 3rd attacker we’ve so desperately needed the last 18 months. We’ve never been able to field a truly dangerous front 3, and it’s part of why our attack has been so anemic for 18 months. Lucas is a decent player to throw on as a sub, but he’s not near

Werner would be absolutely ideal because he could cover for Kane when out and also be the best player in our starting 11 playing next to Kane when he’s healthy.

That said, he’s not coming to us. At this point, I imagine he’s only really interested in Bayern, Liverpool or the Spanish giants and he’ll be able to write his ticket this summer.

The time to try for this one was last summer when we had an incredible platform to recruit from.

I agree with that. I think it's a route that the club have tried to go down in the last few windows as well. We looked at Werner this time last year and then were chasing Dybala in the summer. I doubt there are many players of that quality around in this window so signing a player on loan now and then trying to get someone of a higher standard in the summer makes sense to me.
