I’ve always seen Eze as a luxury. If we can get a quality 1v1 winger, striker, central midfielder, left footed cebtre back, plus competition in both full back positions and STILL have 60m to spend on an AM to rotate with Maddison, then ok great!

We have so much to do with our squad over the next 2-3 windows. I’m not sure if Eze helps us or sets us back tbh. Feels like a deal we would hace done a few years ago.

Agree with this. Eze is a good to have rather than a must have.

Shame if he goes to Arsenal as I like him (but arguably they have bigger needs). It’s when Neto/Doue start going elsewhere that I’ll start sweating.

Agree, unfortunatly players like Eze and Neto probably wont be finalising any transfers until after their respective countries get knocked out. That goes for sales as well, players like PEH and Gio.

What I would say tho is that if we really want Doué, and he might not be a top target tbf, then his involvement with the Olympics officially starts on the 24th of July. I know thats still a month away but training camp has already begun it seems and seeing as France is the home nation, much like Olise, he might well want his future decided long before the games begin so he is not distracted. Essentially if we want him we should be trying to wrap it up ASAP. Also you would imagine after the 30th more teams might start pushing harder for him.

Considering Eze originally came from Arsenal I think there is a fairly decent chance he would want to go back if offered a prominent role which he likely would if they were happy to spend 60+ mil on him.

It's not even going to be that.

Eze was originally a Arsenal academy player and they are demonstrably ahead of us in their progression. If Arsenal can agree a fee with Palace there is not a chance he chooses us over them. That's just the facts of the matter.

I feel relatively confident he would choose us over Chelsea if it came to it but if Arsenal want him then he goes there.

Would be hard to watch Eze go Arsenal. I think we are having a shift in formation next season where he can play with Maddison in the attacking midfield area similar to how city set up. When Maddison was injured last year we had no plan B and relied on shifting Kulu across.
In my opinion we have painted ourselves into a corner with wingers with our club captain likely LWF, having just extended werner and spent 75m on kulu and johnson last summer. With solomon and gil still on the books and the wide positions being where mikey moore and devine could possibly get minutes, i dont see how we accomodate another out and out winger. Someone like Eze who could cover a couple of positions wouldve ticked a lot of boxes (homegrown, london based, knows the league, good character, entering his prime etc.)
Sorry if that is unpopular as i understand what some fans want in our wide players, some of my favourite players growing up have been wingers, but im concerned we create another wingback situation where we have 6/7 players for 2 positions.

I bet whoever doesn’t get Eze out of Chelsea and Arse will go all out for Neto and/or Doué. Such is our luck. I can certainly see both teams interested in both players. Plus there have been rumblings again PSG want Doué after they get Cherki which wouldn’t surprise me.

Might be right but I don’t think Neto would suit the profile chelsea wants, arsenal may well do. Doue I’m sure chelsea would be all over but I would hope if they get estevao they won’t go for doue

From what I’ve read they have 2 striker targets left and both are very expensive so if they can’t do a deal at the price point they want they won’t go for a striker and will wait another season for sesko as they were happy with how havertz finished the season.

Not sure I agree with that. Trossard was pretty lethal for them last season he scored a lot of important goals. But I think maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t think eze is that great.

I wonder whether buying Eze would account for the bulk of their budget though? Last summer alone, they splashed out 65 million pounds on Havertz, over 100 million pounds on Rice, and another 38 million pounds on Timmer. Maybe that means they don't have the money this summer but I'll believe it when I see it.

They were also the first club (of many) to release him so unless he's a boyhood fan then he has no reason to feel any affection towards them.

Being totally objective why wouldn’t he choose them?

The only way I could possibly see it is if they aren’t really committed to signing him, whereas we are selling it as a no.1 target situation ( and even that’s a stretch).

There's a couple of quotes in in Football Insider, where he's talking about being released by Arsenal as a kid, “Arsenal was probably the hardest. My dream was to play for them. Hearing them say ‘no’ at 13 was tough." and how it was an Arsenal game which made him fall in love with football, “Arsenal game when I was younger. When they were away in the maroon kit. Henry was playing. Van Persie as well...I was like this is what I want to be doing. This is where I want to be. Just seeing the energy in that place, it was just everything.”

I don't think it's a big deal though. I'm sure he'll do whatever's best for his career, regardless. It just so happens Arsenal may be a better move for him professionally as well as sentimentally.
