Worth it. But Levy will never spend that type of money up front & I don't blame him. That's a crazy amount of money. At least it's early so we can move on to another target. Problem is the HG situation. We'll have to adjust our plans.

Somehow, First time I read that tweet, as 'Eze has many suitors, so we are considering to move on'....lol....
Eze would be quality add if it happens

I know having to pay up front is not usually our MO but here it's worth it. On an open market Eze likely goes for more.

Surely Levy can come up with some kind of financing for it using his contacts.

Would be such a good player for us. Can play so many roles and be MotM in any of them.
I think the concern would be how much it might effect the rest of our business. To pay such are a large chunk upfront on one deal could well affect how much money we have left to spend in the rest of the current window.

In FFP/P&S terms it would make no difference to paying over instalments. Would just be a matter of securing the funds one way or another.

Likely explains that follow up tweet from POK.

I know it might impact the rest of the window and I know Eze plays 2 positions we have some real strength in son and maddison but I'd be really happy if we went for this. Maybe I feel we are 'owed' a game-changer/marquee signing and want to see a real signal of intent from the club but I would be over the moon to see Eze in a spurs shirt.

I think why I myself have failed to believe it - is due to mostly the Olise links to Chelsea. Seems hard to see them losing both in the window. Hope I'm wrong.

Secondly, just from in my lifetime I can't remember when we had two first choice options in a position. Eze and maddison to choose from, I think we'd be absolutely set there unless our injury luck kick in!

He's mostly played at AM, then LW about 1/4 to a 1/3 of the time. How do we imagine he'd fit in with maddison?

Question...would people accept Son and Richarlison as our CFs for next season if it meant we signed Eze for LW?

Maddison and Eze's creativity on the pitch together would be incredible.

On the surface, it’s interesting because as we set up last season he’s not a natural fit anywhere in the team except for Maddison’s position. I’m really excited, if we do sign him, how he’d fit into what Ange is trying to do. He, Maddison, and Udogie all on the left side of the pitch is super enticing!!!

It’s not the effect on FFP/PRS but our overall budget for the window. We never like to pay release clauses because we tend to prefer spreading the costs over several years. I know in theory you’re paying the same but I’d be amazed if it didn’t have a knock on effect with the rest of our business.

@Ghost Hardware talked about how the scouting looks like we could be moving away from inverted fullbacks.

If the fullbacks provide the width, we could have both in the team, similar to when we had Eriksen, Som, Dele, Kane. Eriksen was usually on the wing in the line-up, but he was basically a 10, although very fluid.

Ange puts a lot of emphasis on fluidity in his system. I could see it working.
