Dismissing Odobert (straight into the side) and Gray as 'two teenagers' is embarrassing. If you include Bergvall and Moore we have some of the best young talents in Europe and three of them are ready right now to play in the first team. I get a bit pissed off when people talk about them like they are nothing special just to down play a transfer window because we didn't sign a player they wanted.
It’s first thing in the morning and you’re here being rude because I disagree. It’s not embarrassing, it’s my opinion. I don’t support ENIC, daniel levy, daniel levy’s family or his mates. I support Tottenham Hotspur. I want Tottenham Hotspur to be the best team.

We should've just gone out and signed the best player in the world like Real Madrid did, then we'd immediately be better just like they are.

Have you ever considered a career in owning a football club? This method could win everything!

I have elected instead to live the life of a working man. This is my choice, and nothing to do with a lack of family wealth/discernable skills/intelligence.

But you must remember the "you never win anything with kids" mantra of Mr Hansen that turned out...oh yeah they went on to win the lot

(just to be clear i 100% agree with you)

I really dont get the idea that only senior players = a positive window. Sarr was one of our best (and youngest players last season) as were Destiny and VDV and Kulu the year before at 21. The only target i see as having "missed" was Neto who i personally never got excited by owing to the cost and injury record, we dont have the funds or the illegal practices to take that risk. In my mind youth brings energy, fight and a fearlessness that can be balanced by senior heads like maddison, romero, biss, bents, sonny and solanke. I'm excited about this squad, not just for this year but the next 3 or 4.

It’s been two games ??? I appreciate modern football has changed but squads still have the capability to improve, learn, develop and progress without signings. Almost all have squads where there is one or two positions where an injury would be a massive headache. But to say that our season is written off after two games of which we have not lost is preposterous.
Anges philosophy takes time to imprint and the ability for players to truly embrace and replicate it on the pitch could take at least a season. Whilst strengthening a squad is important It still takes time for them to adapt to a new style and system which is not a common one that Ange uses.
Can we save the told you so’s till we have at least lost a match.

whis written it off? I merely mentioned we beat a very bad Everton side, struggled for 45 against a newly promoted side, and specified there will be glimpses of greatness but will probably trail off last season as we haven’t addressed the glaring weaknesses. A couple of teenagers aren’t going to rectify what happened last season.
If it does I’ll gladly take the pelters from
All.

Our squad is pretty well covered in most areas, with LB and LCB cover being the obvious weak spot. But everywhere else there is either competition or good quality cover. We have signed some great young players, but unless there is opportunity for them to get serious game time we’ll never see the best of them.

We are leaving ourselves short and it is frustrating;

No significant improvement to the starting 11 (though I do like Solanke and we do have some depth there now at least)
No leaders on the pitch when the going gets a bit tough.
No cover on the left side of defence that fits with how Ange plays (for a different system Davies would be ok)
No definitive/significant upgrade on the wings which is a position that we all identified as imperative.
No upgrade in CM with a player with high level defensive talents.

Positives:
Continued to significantly reduce wage bill :cautious:
Quite a few unwanted players by the manager off the books.
Some really high level young talent that will hopefully strengthen the squad now and the first 11 in the future.

Overall I am underwhelmed and really thought we would be trying to push on this window. In my opinion the gap has widened between us and the top teams (Arsenal / Man City - while teams like Chelsea, Utd, Brighton, West Ham etc have improved their teams so it is going to be much more competitive in the positions between 4th and 9th.

No significant improvement to the starting 11? Solanke?
No leaders on the pitch when the going gets a bit tough. Romero? Our young players are another year older and will take more responsibility.
No cover on the left side of defence that fits with how Ange plays? Agreed but I suppose the back line could be moved around to allow for VDV to play there.
No definitive/significant upgrade on the wings which is a position that we all identified as imperative? Oderber? Son back out on the left now that we’ve got Solanke?
No upgrade in CM with a player with high level defensive talents? Gray?

8th richest club in the World!?
Donald Trump is a billionaire yet cannot pay fines in the low millions. Being "rich" does not mean you have unlimited spending power. We have spent the best part of £200m this summer which is a lot for us (or anyone). We operate within a conservative envelope and that ensures our security. My point was that we dont have the capital or the questionable means of accounting that chelsea are applying to bring in transfers. But look at that mess, players like Sterling on 300k a week that they cannot move or play. I prefer our model personally.

Debateable whether he's actually an upgrade- definitely not a significant one.

We have played the two worst teams in the league

People want us to be building a squad capable of consistently beating the best teams in the league

this window certainly hasn’t closed the gap in any meaningful way on that front

In his press conference Ange disagreed with your last sentence, but then again he's just the Manager of the first team.

Perhaps we should re-sign Skip, Pierre, Rodon, Tanganga, Winks and the like and taken the Premier League by storm this season.

Minute 12.18 should help you understand what he was brought in to do, is doing and still has a way to go.

If we fail to sign a left sided defender - preferably left back - that is highly negligent of the club. No question about it.

Do we really expect to play Micky in every game, every competition, without a break? It’s not going to happen.

Eze would’ve really put a marker down, but only Solanke as a senior signing isn’t anywhere near enough from the 8th richest club in the world.

The size of the squad hasn’t changed from last season, which is fine, but the amount of experience has. For instance, in Levy’s mind we have Porro, Spence, Romero, Dragusin, Van der Ven, Davies, Udogie & Reguilon - 8 players for 4 positions. To hell if they’re all suitable enough to play the football Ange wants.

That, my friends, shows a complete lack of footballing understanding..

Still a few hours to go. Time to right a few wrongs. What happened to Hermoso?

Correct it won't happen.

Ange made it clear today in his press conference about defensive cover.

We’re ALWAYS holding off until the next window for key signings, then it’s rinse and repeat. Like you say, good window in terms of outgoings. 4/10 for incomings at very best. Couple injuries when fixture list piles up at Xmas and we’re fucked!

Outside of City (who have unlimited funding) and Chelsea who somehow finance 53 players by selling hotels (perhaps that's why we are building one) all teams suffer from injuries and suspensions.

We have a better squad, have reduced the average age of the squad, and last week scored four goals (irrespective of the opposition) without a recognized striker.

So, injuries to Dom and Richy didn't stop us last week did it?

If you listened to Ange's press conference this morning he stated categorically what he had been hired to do, the fact that he is doing it, and that selling ten players and buying ten more isn't the answer.

It's spending money on the correct players SOME that may or may not make it in the long term.

Toon isn't one of our nest hunting grounds, but i suspect that if the result doesn't go in our favour you will come back in here to remind us all, of the 4/10 transfer window we just had?

Building a squad with a new manager, and remit takes time, and Ange stated that we have youngsters of quality coming through and he will not sign players as cover when these youngsters are almost ready.

For what it is worth, I agree wholeheartedly agree with him.

“In Levy’s mind” what about in our chief of football, technical director, or even our managers eyes? You really think they have zero influence on our transfer strategy?

FFS some of you guys just make shit up to justify your outrage.
