Rivalry to one side at least they're having a proper go. We're not benching ourselves against them, it should be the one and only scum instead, but their leadership is on another level to ours... 23 points was it last season despite the stresses of CL
Whilst that may be true we do need to wait.

We are operating in a different market to them. We are looking for players that will take us up a level.

Summerville, Fullkrug, Kilman etc are not players that would take us up a level as they are not better than what we have. Lusi Guilherme may become a top player but he is still a raw talent and we have signed two of those.

We are operating in the Eze, Neto marketwhich means higher fees and more compeition for them. So it's certainly not as straight forward.

If we end the window with 3 more players - 2 of those being Neto and a CF we want - I don't think you can say we are not being ambitious.

We are being very thoughtful in the way we are constructing a squad.

Arsenal were accused of not showing ambition earlier in Arteta's reign by making mid range transfers (30-50m) and started with the bigger ones once they had built the foundations.

Think we are before that step but still targetting more prolific players.

I'm guessing his eyes, footballing wise, as it's as clear as day Luiz is consistently a better footballer than Onana. As for his "attitude" no idea.

As for the West Ham signings, they're good signings for West Ham, but not for us.

AWB would stylistically be a good fit as a RB for our system, as a former winger and an exceptional one on one defender. However he's not at our level and would never start ahead of Porro. I'd also prefer Garner, not that we need to sign a RB now.

Fullkrug is not mobile enough, to be effective in our system, thats before we get to his age and adapting to the PL. Kilman would be 4th choice with us. Not seen much of Summerville so no idea.

With Villa, they've not signed anyone who would get into our first 11 (imo). I'm also far from convinced they've done good business.

I think most people are disgruntled at the fact we haven't signed enough (yet) and I agree. I'd still rather wait around for our primary targets than settle for the players other clubs have signed so far.
Amadou Onana is more defensive, while Luiz has a more attacking touch to his game. Having said that Luiz has been playing in a strong Villa squad whereas Onana has been with a relegation contender squad.

I disagree. As id say that Onana could have been in our starting 11. But we ovbiously do not rate him similarly.

having said that, this is the Eze thread 🙌🏻

There’s no harm in trying to find a deal as long as we have other options on the go. We do for sure. Palace may change stance. They may not. But they aren’t gonna tell levy they will change position on it. Keep dialogue open. You never know. But make sure we move on other targets. To be fair seems we are with plan B and solanke and focusing on striker instead. I’ve some faith recently. There’s a team and a plan it seems.
even if we get VdV as plan be it’s better than the plan A last season

A release clause is one, large up front payment. It is designed to be a deterrent
I'm surprised Eze let himself get into that position if he resigned to give the club money when he left, because he took any leverage to leave off the table. Smacks of Zaha signing those longer deals and never moving to a big club. I don't think Eze is going anywhere with that upfront tag, not this summer anyway.

He still has leverage to leave but this way everyone knows what it takes to lever him out of the club.

The reason he would have signed would have gone something like this;

Parish: We will give you £50k a week if you sign without a release clause or £75k if we can insert one at let’s say… £65m

Team Eze: £75k you say? Pleasure doing business with you.

It could have been myriad other things too, if I was Parish I would have said something more like we will give you 5% if someone activates your release clause. Better incentive structure that way.

(no idea of the actual salary)

If we can get that much money for Richarlison, maybe we might be able to buy Eze after all?

Maybe. It would be like for like for the strikers if Richy goes out and we get Solanke, we have already got a lot of players out and the wage book down. Eze and Neto are very different players so both would be huge for us.

If Saudi pay up front you'd like to think that would give us the opportunity to pay Eze's clause. Sounds like Solanke will be available on instalments despite the release clause.

If Richy goes I think we'd need Solanke, Neto and Eze (or equivalents) personally to make it worthwhile.

You've got that the wrong way round. A release clause takes the power out of the clubs hands and into the players. No release clause means club can say no or ask what they want. Release clause means they have limited or no say.

last week it was Neto, Eze and Solanke...

Today it's Neto and Solanke.

Come first of September it will be Lidl, Vikram Solanki (or the guy that plays Simon Barlow in Coronation street because close enough) and the exhumed body of Eazy-e
🤞

I would be here for the press conference though :D

I assume I missed the time anyone said we were going for all three. I thought it was 2 from 3

Hope so but it’s preseason and far too early to say that Bergval can do the AM role in the EPL. Big gamble if that’s the plan.
But if it’s not him chances are it could be someone else like Devine, Kulusevski or Donley. I think we will be OK there. But sorting out the striker situation one way or another and getting a quality winger in is an absolute must. Then actually for me, upgrading on Davies even takes precedence over CM.

Imagine a front four of

Neto
Eze
Son

Solanke

Thats a title contender attack.

You are getting funny replies but Havertz, Saka, Martinelli/Trossard was for that lot down the road.

I think that attack can easily contend if Ange gets the balance right. We have 2 world class CBs behind it too, plus a very promising GK and LB IMO.
