Kulusevski was one of the best chance creators in the league last year, in fact slightly better than Bernardo Silva when it comes to that. Obviously it remains to be seen how he adapts to number 10 role, especially once scouting reports are out and teams get used to it, but looks like we just have to surround him with players who can score goals.
That’s exactly my point, Maddison we are hoping refinds some kind of form and energy and Kulu we hope he can adapt as a 10. Not a great place to be in a critical role particularly as we look to break down teams playing a low block. Just my view but targeting quality AM makes so much sense.

We really should be looking at Baena if no Eze. Maddison is the only one with any final third creativity and we should absolutely be bringing in competition.
Opinions I guess but I think we are too light on the left side of defence. At least in that spot there are 3 options Bergvall, Devine & Kulusevski one of which should come good. Don’t think we will be able to bring in 4 for a number of reasons so I’d rather a defender since that will end up costing us the most points in a long season.

A player we bought for proper money, as a marquee signing, last season, having a bad run of form post-injury is just not a justification for going out and breaking your transfer record for someone else in the same position!

I find this shiny new toy approach madenning (in general, sorry for picking out this individual post).

We've invested in Maddison, jusitifiably so. If he continues to struggle then sure next summer might need to have a hard think.

And in the meantime yes the logic of if your best players don't play well you don't get good results will continue to be true (as it would be of an expensive signing flops), you can't buy-more your way out of that, the only way is for them to perform.
It has been consistent ITK that we‘re interested in Eze, so you’re going to have to be mad. Not sure Ange would agree with you describing his strategy as a shiny new toy approach, you can say the same about Richy, we paid more than “proper” money for him.

Palace could be playing a dangerous game here as they’re banking on Eze knuckling down.
He may see Olise & Guehi leaving and feel somewhat disgruntled.

On the other hand he may well be a great character who just gets on with it, particularly if Glasner continues where he left off (and Guehi was injured for a fair chunk).

If he is pissed off, I’d imagine his team will tell us that & it’ll be a tactic to force Palace into taking the money in instalments.

This is pretty unfair. Transfers are rarely or never paid all upfront. Besides, why is this on Levy? By all accounts Lange/Munn are in charge of recruitment these days.
It’s not about being fair. Levy is still in charge of the money and how it is used. My point is Palace want the money upfront. We might not like it but Palace are in control. Either pay it or move on. We haven’t and we pussyfoot around and now we are on the back foot again. Lange/Munn/Ange identified who was wanted for Ange’s new first eleven players in before the pre-season tour. Again Levy has not delivered. The pattern has been the same every season.

How do you know we haven’t moved on?

You are in possession of a little bit of info and you’re acting like you have all the facts 😂

I watch a lot of Celtic, Matt O'Reilly is head and shoulders the best player in Scotland. He'll'' be around £16m to buy. The snobbery about buying players from the SPL makes me laugh, the standard of football might be shite but some quality players can still be found up there. I'd be delighted if we got O'Reilly.

Very good point. I would love if it was Bayern who triggered the clause, which led Palace to also accept our offer of more money, and Eze chose us over them. Highly unlikely, but it would be great to see what old forehead made of it all!!
Yeah wouldn’t fancy us against Arsenal or City triggering it though.

Yep quality player who Celtic snapped up from the mighty MK Dons a few years ago....

Unpopular opinion maybe but i don’t see Eze, Solanke, or Neto making us any better challengers to winning anything without a top drawer defensive midfielder and better defending options that don’t leak goals like a sieve.

With Olise already gone and Guehi heading to Newcastle, that's 2 of Palace's 3 best players already gone. They had to expect this was going to happen but you can understand them playing hardball with the release clause.

I guess my question would be, considering the way football finances work and that transfers are generally all done with the fee spread across multiple years, doesn't it make more sense still for Palace to accept a higher fee that is staggered than a lower fee up front?

We'd have no PSR issues at all.

We were in a really strong position even before we sold an academy graduate for £100m last summer.

It is why we should be bringing all three targets in. The first XI needs the improvement, if not, we will get more of the second half of the season from this side. It really isnt much to ask for three better players in the first team than we currently have. Without it, we wont be challenging. With the additional games, I would say we need even more players than just three actually.

Their preference is clearly to keep Eze, so it makes sense for them to reject all offers that don't meet the release clause.

If another club were to activate the release clause though, then it would make sense for them to also consider potentially bigger offers (albeit with structured payments) and leave it up to the player to decide where he wants to go.

Anges system will always concede goals. Defending starts with the attackers, so that’s why pressing players are important.
He is an attacking manager and as long as we score more goals and work hard then we are doing what he’s asked.

I have to admit that I don't think Solanke and Neto are going to strengthen us. Eze on the other hand would.

My biggest concern in our transfer dealings is that other teams - Villa, Wham etc. (whom we used to be above), are now strengthening their teams with material that are better in what we are bringing in. If this tendency is continuing we will steady be going backwards.
