Eze willingly signed his current deal. It's time we drew a line and moved on to other targets. I don't believe he is worth 60 or 68 million. Let's go find ourselves a replacement in another league.

yeah that doesn't seem to likely, don't see us or a majority of teams in the world minus madrid and city doing the buyout and paying lik 50-60 mil up front, that's insane.
Unless a club could secure a loan up front to pay the release fee, then pay back the loan over a number of years

I think given our strong PSR situation , given the amount of player sales we will have, given the stadium has been up and fully running for a few years now, given we want and need to back Ange in this project and given aside from an 18yr old Gray and a youngster from Korea arriving in January we’ve not signing anyone else, if we only signing one of them it would be disappointing but if we still sign two top attackers say Neto & Chiesa then absolutely no problem, if Neto or Eze is our only 1st team ready attacking signing then that would be hugely underwhelming.
If we sign one of Eze or Neto I would imagine we would get in another player (maybe Gallagher) but I just really struggle to see us signing 2 players for combined £110-120m. Fully get your points and all are valid but we have never done it before and I suppose I'm looking at our history in terms of never fully backing a manager or trying to push on from a positive position.
Would be amazing to be proved wrong.
And in relation to people's expectations I just hope there aren't too many who are expecting us to sign both as likely it won't happen and we've all seen the meltdowns on here on last day of window when imo some people went way over top with reactions because they have unrealistic expectations as to what we would do so they felt let down when what they thought would happen didn't.

Perhaps the family foundation could loan us the money.

Not sure if that was tongue in cheek or not but I would put my mortgage on it that our loans for the stadium would stipulate that we can't take on any borrowing over a certain level (maybe 10m+ so that we can still do some leasing etc) without those lenders agreeing to it. Standard loan covenants at that level.

Baffles me why he signed that contract

This is starting to feel reminiscent of our pursuit of Zaha. I know some people will point to the disanalogies, like Eze's release clause and the club's improved financial state. But WLB's latest bit of ITK seems to confirm what most of us already suspected. Crystal Palace don't want to sell him and we don't want to match the terms of the release clause. At the end of the day, the release clause is irrelevant if we or other clubs are not prepared to trigger it. It's just like an asking price that no one is prepared to match.

I do hope we get Eze.

Him and Neto are likely crucial for us to challenge this season as Maddison looks no closer to rekindling his form from early last season and we severely lack control upfront when starting both Johnson and Son.

Yeh I’d rather have Richy/Lankshear with Deki as a false 9 backup and buy Eze and Neto than get another striker and only one of Eze/Neto if that is the choice.

So much for the hard work being done behind the scenes then. Surely this was a key point, discussed early on and well known to CAA Base Agency?

He‘s a top Premier League player, a full England international who is approaching his prime years. £60m should be more than achievable for the 11th richest club in the world, is it not?

Yeh seems weird suddenly only finding out now Palace won’t budge. There must be more to it. Surely we would have know from the start what is needed then decide whether to proceed or not.

I think we are just waiting for outs first, once Lo Celso leaves we will pull the trigger on someone. Unless we are waiting for some other saga to end, for example if Barcelona don't find money for Olmo and City buy Eze etc.

I’m sorry but I struggle to believe that with the geniuses that run our finances, there isn’t a bank who would make a product that helps us pay the lump upfront and repay them in big instalments over his contract

Maybe Palace did say at the start that they won't budge, but we thought ok, let's call their bluff. Let's test that resolve over the course of the window.

If we’re willing to go higher than the release clause as long as we can pay in instalments why not finance the release clause through a third party and then pay them back in instalments? I know it’s probably not that simple but

Since Eze scored against us and pointed to his family in the box before the not so subtle post match chin wag with Son and Maddison we have been linked. We nearly signed him from QPR.
His agency have many of their clients at Spurs and there is a relationship there. It has been said by our reputable sources we know what it will take to get him and more recently Palace want the release clause and thats final.
Im not educated in what goes on behind closed doors with football dealings but surely we know one way or the other pretty soon if we press on with this move.

There has been info previously that this isn't possible due to conditions around the stadium debt. Would be useful if we did have concrete info.
