I guess it depends on how much we have to spend, and if we have £15m for a player Jose might not want.

Heck, by the time Eze is really ready to be an EPL starter Jose will likely be long gone. We should be seeing if a purchase/loan back gets us a good deal on one for the future

In a vacuum seems pretty wild we'd pay 10mil for Jack Clarke but not 15mil on Eze ?‍♂️
Why oh why are the continued comparisons of every player to ‘why did we spend £10m on Clarke’.

you do realise that he’s currently 19, the very age Eze was when he broke through at qpr 2.5 seasons ago, and by Clarke’s current age Eze had done nothing, right? At the age we signed Clarke, Eze was over a year from making a competitive league appearance for QPR, while Clarke had already displayed phenomenal ability in big boy football. That you and others feel the need to continually post things which write him off really bemuses me.

It hasn’t gone well for him so far, and it may never go well, he might be consigned to history as a flash in the pan who pulled off one great game when the cameras were on him v Derby and a few other appearances, but at least wait for him to fail before using him as an example of what we should be doing better. It’s not as if we’ve not had countless examples off teenagers struggling, having poor loans, etc but then pushing through and making a very solid first team impact.

I agree, but if buying him now means we miss out on a RB or CM, would that still be a good idea?

We have issues in the squad that need fixed now.
Happy for the club to then go and buy good youngsters to develop/loan out for the future

Agreed. DM, RB and CF are paramount. If we have money left after that, it would be fantastic if we would take a chance on a talent like Eze.

Did I say anything bad about Jack Clarke or you just a little sensitive about your golden child?

Eze has shown much more than Clarke but we aren't willing to spend another 5mil for him. That's all I'm saying. Now please hop off your soapbox.

No, Eze has shown so much more at 22 than Clarke has at 19. Compare 19 year old Eze to 19 year old Clarke and you’ll get totally different results. We spent £10m on a then 18 year old, in a time when our financial health wasn’t damaged, what was exceptional far ahead of where we’d have expected an 18 year old winger to be. Now our financial health is more fragile, so £15m on a 22 year old who has had a very good season but may not be that far ahead of what we’d want from one of our players of the same age, might seem less of a good idea. You’re comparing him to Clarke, when far more reasonable a comparison would be to Bergwijn, who is only 9 months older, and when we signed him was almost exactly the same age Eze is now, a Dutch international with Champions League experience.

I actually would love us to go for Eze as I think he’s got a lot of ability but I fully understand why we wouldn’t, particularly if it’s at the expense of first team ready options.

How much have you even managed to watch of the mid table lower league side over there in the states? You been waking up extra early to catch Eze’s matches have you?

Don’t bother answering, it’ll only be a lie.

That answer would be zero. But it doesn't take a professional scout to look at his output, see his game clips and realize theres some solid potential there thats worth a punt...

Jose no doubt isn't thinking long term but if we don't have the cash for established stars, then talented youngsters like Eze is the only other realistic option to get us where we want to be. Mid-price journeymen isn't going to do it.

It's ok, we'll let him sign for a mid table club and get priced out of a move for him in 2 years time when he hits Sancho value and only the rich can afford him.

Such thinking lead us to signing David Bentley and flirting with Morten Gamst Pedersen far too often for comfort.

We’re not in a position to look at ‘punts’ in already well stocked positions. Last year yes. The year before it’s a huge failure that we didn’t. Now? Just no. Our punting will be on our own organically grown kids for this season at least.

Or players from the Chinese league.
We’ve just lost a senior centre back and are in need of a 4th choice.

We play with 2 or 3 Ams/ wide men and currently have Son, Lucas, Bergwijn, Lamela, Dele and evening Lo Celso who have been doing that job.

I know you can see the difference.

We are still craving an AM which can create. Ever since CE left we have been looking at GLC to produce plus this guy is homegrown and from London. It's a no sense deal to me and I know Levy can squeeze every last penny from this. Let's hope Jose sees him as a target as we are not in the market for expensive players. Plus same agency as Dele and Danny R.

If we don’t sign him this will be one of those deals we regret

Probably but he doesn’t seem a priority right now where we seem to be sorting the defensive positions first. He hasn’t gone anywhere yet though so let’s see if we come in for him later in the window.
