Why would they loan out one of their most valuable players?
Because some fans are delusional. They slag off city for thinking that 100m is enough to buy Kane but then when we go for a player they think the selling club should bend over for us.

If they get a £10m loan fee with an obligation to buy, its not that odd.
The only reason I can see that suiting them is if the loan fee is paid up front which would front load the eventual transfer whereby a straight transfer is stretched over say four years with lower initial payment. If cashflow matters to them the loan scenario might suit them better.
That said I guess it makes no difference to the buying club so we may as make it permanent and offer the higher initial payment anyway.
Does any of that make sense?

I could see us structure a deal for this paid over a few years. He has sell on value and fits our profile of signings. For the sort of cost we spent on Sanchez when we already had Vertonghen and Alderweireld I don't see why not. Would be perfect if we keep Kane for another year and give him cup games to settle. Plenty of games in the season for him and could play as a 2 with Kane at times. Another loan for Parrott then maybe if Kane goes next year he could become the understudy for Vlahovic the following season.

Haven't seen much of him, but seems like the type of striker that can play with Kane. Kane showed he can fill the playmaking boots last season while still getting goals. I'd love to see us line up with 2 strikers against certain teams, where a target ST can hold it up and Kane can keep coming deeper.

Loan with an obligation to buy makes so much sense that there's absolutely no way it would happen if Levy was doing the deal.

Let's see if Paratici really means business this summer.

Am I alone in thinking if we buy this guy Kane won't be around this season? If we buy him he'll play and we'll probably bring Dane Scarlett in for Europa conference and back up.

I'd like to think we keep Kane for one more year. This way if we do sell Kane, Vlahovic has time to adjust without the pressure

It's probably the most likely scenario but tbh if we know we'll be getting 100m+ for Kane either this summer or next summer then it would be wise to perhaps spend a little more this summer for a new manager, and give players like Vlahovic time to settle. He'll get plenty of game time regardless.

If we're actually skint though I highly doubt we'll be spending this sort of money on a back-up striker though, agreed.

I really think we can keep Kane for one more season, but probably against his will. We will see though. If anything, maybe Paratici is planning to lose Kane next season and wants to get someone time to settle, which would be ideal.

I always think to when we sold Bale and brought in 7 signings, I would hate for us to make that mistake again. I'm totally fine getting back to our transfer profile of signing young exciting players, but give them time to settle in. Countless examples where it's taken 2 campaigns for this to happen with us.

Good points.

When we sold Bale, we also sold Dempsey and Defoe. We also sold Parker and Huddlestone who had been solid first team midfielders. Sandro was already struggling with injuries and Adebayor was to be exiled.

We essentially tried to build a new midfield and attack in one summer. A lack of chemistry as we tried to build the team too quickly.

Keeping Kane and Son as well as possibly Toby, Hojbjerg, Lloris and Lo Celso is important as we need some familiar faces to help transition and build on top of.

I don't know much about him, but a loan fee with obligation to buy is a sneaky way to reduce the sell on fee that a selling club would have to pay a prior club...........not saying that is what is happening here, but it is one reason why a loan might be used.

Another reason why we need to bring in a CF is Kane being at the Euros. If England end up going all the way, we won't see Kane until later this month. He always starts slow from time off so we could really do with having a CF through preseason to take that burden/pressure off.

For some reason it seems almost all deals between Italian teams these days are structured that way (loan with option/obligation). Never made sense to me why the seller would want to do so but I think it’s quite commonplace.

You certainly won't be alone. That's the media's work done for them for weeks. IMO he's not going anywhere until the most ridiculous offer ever in the history of football is made.

Would be concerned if we expect him to replicate Kane's linkup abilities tbh. He's a fantastic goalscorer but the team would have to entirely alter the way we attack with him instead of Kane.

On the other hand, it'll be impossible for us to find a player with Kane's finishing AND passing ability. Kane is a truly unique player who we'll never be able to 'replace' so maybe it's best for us to just focus on getting someone who can reach that 20 goal a season mark first and foremost. Vlahovic is young and has the physicality to succeed in the prem so he's one of the best realistic bets out there to achieve that criteria.
