Yes I know, it's still almost 3 months to go before the window opens again and it's just paper talk.... but this player could be the real deal - and if he really is that good, then Vertonghen most has spoken to Andre about him...

PSV and Belgium winger Dries Mertens is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are eyeing a Janurary swoop for PSV winger Dries Mertens, according to reports.
The 25-year-old Belgian, who can play on either flank, joined the Dutch giants in June 2011 and has proved an instant hit scoring 25 goals in 38 appearances for the club.
And his recent form, which has seen him rack up four goals and an assist in his last two games, has put Spurs on alert.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add another wide player to his squad to provide cover and competition for established wingers Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale.
Also on the Spurs coach's radar are Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Spartak Moscow's Willian, who Daniel Levy tried to recruit in the summer.
But Mertens' relentless form, together with his reasonable price tag of €13m, may well move him to the top of Tottenham's January wishlist.
Were he to join the north London club, Mertens would link up with Belgium team-mate Jan Vertonghen who recently voiced his delight with life at White Hart Lane and would surely encourage any potential move.

He is very good, really like his style and wanted him in a Spurs shirt until the friendly against Belgium, felt quite numbed by him after the Cahill incident, can't imagine any of our current players pulling that sort of stunt.. great talent but it was distasteful..

Last Belgian young gun who seems to be available.

Would be great to have him as an alternative on the wings where we are a bit short imo. Lennon and Bale can't start every game, Dempsey seems to be needed somewhere else and Townsend isn't experienced enough. Would be a great addition.

He is a decent player, I'd probably choose him over William. Although I'm sure AVB and the coaching staff have a much better idea than me, when it comes to spotting talent and players who could improve the squad.
