Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid continues to be far from certain heading into the new season.

For those who can’t be bothered to follow the link the answer is not since he signed a new contract a few years back, there was in his first contract, bit not the new one.

Thanks mawspurs; saves me a few minutes. However, I would have thought that any buy-back option would be an agreement between the clubs made when he was transferred, and that any contract that Bale has with Madrid would be irrelevant. So the answer is probably 'possibly' rather than 'no'.

I still think its a no.
I think our option on the buy back lasted the length of his contract, and as that has past so has our option.

Call me a romantic but I would love to see him back if Levy can broker a deal that suits the club. Still a great player and a useful addition to us due to his pace and experience. A fantastic player in the past for us and probably again in the future. I think he wants to come home to Spurs not China, Germany or France.

If we sign Bale then it reduces Son's minutes, it's a pointless deal especially with the wages he's on.

What's the point in a buy back clause when he's on a gazillion pound a week and a 4 year contract.

Bragging rights. It’s to show that we got one up on them when we sold them our Crown Jewels.

He wasn't on that much in his initial contract
No but without actually looking it up, I bet it was well over double what our top earner was on after he'd left. Same as it is now.

Only if it’s the right deal. We play Son all the time and he looked tired at the end of the season. He also was banned for 3 days due to a stupid red card on his part. Without him we look crap...look at our performances without him, we currently have no natural replacement. Levy will not pay silly money bur may ,just may lmake a deal. Long shot agreed.

He looked tired because he had 2 intl tournaments after the World Cup.

Sigining a player to replace Son is just complete overkill especially when we are most probably gonna sign Sessegnon and Lo Celso, how many attacking players do you want?

He was on £300k, I'm sure it may have crossed Levy's mind that if he was a failure he could take him back on reduced wages.

Our buyback option expired on 30th June 2019 and I believe it only applied if he was going to be sold to another Premier League Club.

Are we seriously talking about Bale as a replacement for Son?

I don't think there's a chance in hell of Bale being any replacement for anyone. If he comes, which he won't, then he'll be top dog and first choice for the FW position. Having said that, Bale, Son and Kane would make an awesome front line
