This is almost 100% an agent trying to sell his player piece but since people won't stop asking here's a thread for you to argue about King Shithouser.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho could be reunited with Diego Costa after Atletico Madrid put the former Chelsea striker up for sale.

Costa helped Chelsea win two Premier League title under Mourinho between 2014 and 2017, and the pair remain in close contact.

Spurs are in the market for another centre-forward to provide additional firepower alongside England captain Harry Kane.

Mourinho has been linked with a swoop for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, but Tottenham have yet to make a bid, with the Cherries expected to demand a big fee.

Costa would be a much cheaper alternative, as the 31-year-old is into the final year of his contract with Atletico.

Tottenham are believed to have concerns over his age and fitness - as well as his form, with the Spain international having scored just five goals last season.

However, he would add aggression to a Spurs team which Mourinho has often criticised for being too soft, and is understood to be open to a move to north London.

Costa is one of several players Atleti have put up for sale, with the La Liga side keen to cash in on Costa rather lose him for nothing next summer.

Mourinho would face competition for his signature from Benfica, who have enquired about the player’s availability, but they are not the only other club interested.

Spurs have already brought in midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer, and look set to sign Wolves full-back Matt Doherty in a £15m transfer which should be announced in the coming days.

But Mourinho is also keen to sign a centre forward who can not only provide competition and back-up to Kane, but also another option as Tottenham face the added commitments of Europa League football next season.

We have a thread for this but not Messi?!

Edit, my main memory of this guy is him shovelling out John Terry at West Brom after they beat us to the title.

At the end of the day I think us fans just have to say it would be nice to have someone come in and replace Kane if he needs a rest, another strike partner, or if he's injured. Sure there's younger, maybe better options out there. But if Jose can handle his personality which he has I assume in the past then he fits the similar mold of past winners. He certainly seems like a player that would do anything to win.

Won't happen.

The last thing Mourinho will actually want to do is to bring in the exact players that have cause him career problems in the past.

Well, it's his own funeral if he does, but I reckon the media are well off with this. I don't think these types of player as his "type" for this project.

I would not be against this signing.
Would we rather him than say a Calum Wilson?

Tricky one. Costa does have his benefits and he left Chelsea in such a strop I’m not too fussed he’s ex Chelsea but is he a good character to have a round? Seems like a bit too much of a nutter ?‍♂️ also I think he’s had some bad injuries lately and has been a shadow of the player he was in peak at Chelsea. He is experienced and could do a job for sure but not sure he’s the most suitable option.

The only thing he hasn't done for 3 years in order to win is score goals which is kinda important for the role he plays...

Look I'm not 100% against but really the only way it works for me is if he's only in the squad so Toby can send line drives at his face to bounce off into the path of Son, Bergwijn, or Dele to score goals.

In his prime he was one of the most devastating strikers going - strong, fast and skilful while also being an utterly brilliant pantomime villain of the highest grade.

In 2020? No thanks - he may only be 31 but his form seems to have fallen off a cliff since moving back to Spain. He's got 17 goals in 3 seasons/74 appearances according to Wikipedia. Atletico may play a different type of football to Chelsea, but everything I've read about Costa over the last season or two suggests that he's just not the player he was a few years ago.

What is the ideal realistic back up striker goal scoring rate? Llorente had a decently successful season in his last year with us offering something different, and didn't score much. 1 in 4? 1 in 3? When you start getting a goal every other game you're looking into a top level striker that should be starting in the squad.

I wish we’d stop calling it a ‘back-up striker’ how about a decent striker who competes with Kane and can play with Kane if needed? We could have up to 60 games this year if we sign a striker they will be almost guaranteed about 30 apps minimum! Let’s start acting like a top club again.

we’ve had 4 top strikers On our books in the past :
Kanoute mido Keane defoe
Crouch Pav Defoe Keane

We can easily have Kane and a 2nd top level striker. We could do worse than costa. If we could make it work financially selling Ndombele etc I’d love someone of Ings level but I’d take costa or Calum Wilson Given our budget restrictions

I would love this signing, for the same reasons I’d love us to sign Suarez - a shithouse, a game changer and a winner who can play with or instead of Kane

My initial thought was with VAR what's the point. However, the prem refs could see him punch someone and still not send him off.
